Sydney Sweeney shows off impressive driving skills as she gets behind the wheel of a race car
As I delve deeper into Sydney Sweeney‘s captivating life story, it becomes increasingly evident that she’s not just an exceptional actress but also a woman who embodies strength and resilience. Her passion for driving, whether it’s a Mustang or off-road, is more than a hobby; it’s a testament to her determination and resourcefulness.
On a thrilling day, Sydney Sweeney immersed herself deeply into the high-octane realm of auto racing, as she spent the day alongside the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion, Ryan Blaney.
On Saturday, the actress from Euphoria, who is 27 years old, posted a series of entertaining photos and clips on social media, showing her spending the afternoon racing laps at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must say, experiencing this has been nothing short of extraordinary! Here I am, suited up in a striking blue racing gear, all thanks to the gracious invitation from the talented Ryan Blaney (@ryanblaney10). This adventure has opened my eyes to an exhilarating world I hadn’t yet explored. Thank you, Ryan, for introducing me to this thrilling side of life!
In the initial picture, she’s clearly smiling as she clutches her helmet, standing before a car racing circuit in Concord.
Afterwards, she partially stuck her upper body out of the car’s passenger window, her arms raised high, for a photo that beautifully expressed her happiness at that instant.
As a twice-Emmy-nominated individual, I didn’t shy away from capturing myself cruising on the racetrack and later striking a pose with a thumbs-up next to Blaney, all for a memorable photograph.
She tagged the company, NASCAR Racing Experience, which allows customers to ‘take the wheel of a real NASCAR Race Car and drive solo on one of the nation’s premier speedways.’
As stated on their official site, the NASCAR Racing Experience offers a duration that varies between five and 48 minutes. Throughout this experience, you will receive live advice from a guide over a two-way radio.
Besides having a passion for driving, Sweeney is skilled at operating manual transmissions and has restored numerous classic automobiles.
A local resident from Washington, with a family background in auto repair, shares her restoration work on various social platforms.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sweeney started sharing updates about her 1969 Ford Bronco restoration project on her new TikTok account, Syd’s Garage.
Gradually, during the course of these renovations, it dawned on her the influence she might wield over women fascinated by cars, as well as individuals drawn to the unique charm of a vehicle such as a Ford Mustang.
She shared with BAZAAR.com in 2022 that she’s had a longstanding passion for classic automobiles. As children, her babysitters (identical twins) were racecar drivers, and she frequently visited the racetrack with them. Growing up, she dreamed of becoming a racecar driver herself.
2023 saw Sweeney enthusiastically sharing with People her off-roading adventure in Moab, Utah. At one stage, she skillfully maneuvered past challenges, such as a steep 28-degree incline.
She mentioned that overcoming the Bronco Off-Roadeo experience left her feeling like the most confident and stylish version of herself.
She expressed excitement, saying, “Everyone should join me as I demonstrate this, because I believe it will boost my reputation a bit. While driving, it gives off an empowering vibe, making one think, ‘Wow, I can achieve anything!’
Reflecting on her childhood, the actress observed that her parents allowed her to take the driver’s seat as soon as she could hold onto a steering wheel.
At four, she said her ‘papa would stand’ her up ‘on his lap and let’ her drive up his driveway.
‘I still have very vivid memories of doing that with him,’ she recalled.
Sweeney mentioned that his mother didn’t let him drive an automatic car until he had officially obtained his driver’s license. Instead, she taught him how to handle a manual transmission on the countryside roads. Whenever we encountered a problem, she would make me stop and change the tire myself, even though there was nothing wrong with it at first. My mother is skilled at placing me in challenging situations where I don’t know what to do, forcing me to find my way out.
Sweeney added that her mother did a good job of teaching her to ‘push through’ fear.
Furthermore, she mentions that her ability to drive a manual car gives her an advantage during auditions, as it often leaves a positive impression on people who appreciate that she possesses this skill.
