Sydney Sweeney lands next lead role in movie adaptation of one of 2025’s best games

Sydney Sweeney has secured her main character part in the film version of the popular game, “Split Fiction,” which is expected to be one of the top movies in 2025.

Two short weeks following the thrilling launch of the game in March, I found myself buzzing with excitement as word got out that a movie adaptation was in the works, attracting several major studios in a fierce bidding competition!

Despite not having a specific studio confirmed as of now, Sweeney has already secured a role, working alongside a director and scriptwriters.

As a devoted reader, I can’t help but share my excitement about the captivating saga that unfolds in “Split Fiction.” In this tale, I find myself rooting for two promising authors – Mio, a prolific science-fiction mastermind, and Zoe, an enchanting fantasy scribe. In an extraordinary twist of events, these creative minds find themselves immersed within the very stories they’ve brought to life.

They must set aside their disagreements and collaborate at various locations to successfully execute their plan for an exit.

According to Variety’s report, Sweeney is set to portray one of the writers, though the specific character has yet to be determined. Furthermore, she will take on the role of an executive producer in the project.

The director for the upcoming project is Jon M Chu, known for “Wicked”, and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo behind “Deadpool & Wolverine”, will handle the screenplay.

It’s worth noting that the creator of Split Fiction, the same team behind It Takes Two, is now working on a film adaptation as well. This project is being produced by Amazon and Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions.

With a Metacritic score of 91, it is currently 2025’s third-best reviewed game.

In simple terms, the review by Digital Spy states that the game’s creativity, stemming from its unique concept and diverse viewpoints, is truly remarkable.

The diversity and difficulty level of the boss battles make them stand out as among the toughest aspects of the game.

Split Fiction is available on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
