Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried say they are ‘safer together’ as they hint at past negative experiences on-set and being ‘burned enough times’

Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried both suggested they’ve had difficult experiences while working on film sets, during a recent interview.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I just read that Hana and Jiwoo, the leads in ‘The Housemaid,’ basically said they feel safer when they’re together! Can you believe it? They said they’ve both been through so much – they used the word ‘burned’ which, ugh, breaks my heart – and they’ve leaned on each other. It’s just…so sweet! They’re clearly really close, and honestly, it makes me even more excited for the movie! They have such a connection, and it’s going to shine on screen, I just know it!

I was so touched to chat with Sydney, 28, for Good Housekeeping’s December 2025 digital cover! We talked all about their beautiful connection with someone special and how they really prioritize supporting each other. It was lovely to hear about such a positive relationship!

The movie comes out on December 19th and features the two actors as enemies on screen. But in real life, they get along great!

Sydney said: ‘The first day we met, we were talking the entire time.’

Amanda agreed, explaining that they always shared a common understanding, faced the same challenges, and were united by a desire to create something excellent while enjoying the process.

She added that she and the other person have enough career experience to understand the difference between what they did and other situations they’ve faced.

‘And I think you get burned enough times to know that we’re safer together.’

The upcoming thriller film is based on the popular book series by author Freida McFadden.

According to IMDb, ‘The Housemaid’ centers on a woman named Sweeney who takes a job as a housemaid for a wealthy couple, hoping for a fresh start.

It is the first of three instalments in McFadden’s Housemaid book series.

Sydney and Amanda opened up about the new project during an appearance on the Today show last week.

The actors discussed how exciting it was to collaborate with director Paul Feig on the movie adaptation of the 2022 book.

“We were really enjoying ourselves,” Sweeney explained. “It was just so full of surprises and unexpected turns, which made it a lot of fun.”

The Mean Girls actress also shared that they all approached the work similarly and simply enjoyed themselves.

It’s important to find humor even when dealing with serious topics, and I think our on-screen chemistry really shines through because we work so well together.

The two actresses jokingly discussed their on-set relaxation space, describing it as a comfortable room with a large bed where they could rest and recharge.

Seyfried said she’d love to get back into crocheting, reminiscing about how comfortable and inviting her friends’ gatherings used to be – they’d all sit together on the floor.

Sydney recently shared a painful experience from when she was 16: a casting director told her to ‘fix her face.’

During an interview on Live With Kelly And Mark, the actress shared stories about her difficult and unpleasant audition experiences.

She explained that because she began acting at a young age, she faced a lot of unsuccessful auditions. She recalled instances where casting directors were unprofessional, even eating chips during her auditions.

It’s really upsetting to be told to change how you look, especially when you’re only sixteen. Growing up isn’t always easy, but you can still enjoy it. Just be prepared to hear ‘no’ a lot more often than ‘yes’.
