As a die-hard movie buff with a soft spot for thrillers and a keen eye for talent, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, The Housemaid! The fact that Lionsgate is backing this project and has secured the incredible Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried to star is just icing on the cake.

The much-anticipated movie adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestselling thriller novel “The Housemaid” is in the works, with two highly skilled actresses slated to take on leading roles. A renowned director is also on board to helm the project.

It’s Lionsgate that’s producing the upcoming thriller, and they’ve apparently reached a deal for Emmy-nominated actress Sydney Sweeney to take on the main role in the movie. Additionally, it seems they are close to finalizing negotiations with Golden Globe-winning actress Amanda Seyfried to join the cast as another key character.

Zendaya, famously recognized for her portrayal of Cassie Howard in the popular HBO teen drama series “Euphoria,” is also well-known for her performances in other shows like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Sharp Objects,” “Everything Sucks!,” and “The White Lotus.” Her latest acting ventures include a romantic comedy titled “Anyone but You,” a superhero movie called “Madame Web,” and the horror production, “Immaculate.

Contrarily, Amanda Seyfried is primarily recognized for her role as Karen Smith in the hit teen comedy “Mean Girls.” Additionally, you may have seen her in various films such as “Mamma Mia!”, its sequel “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” “Jennifer’s Body,” “Dear John,” “Letters to Juliet,” “Les Misérables,” “Mank,” and “Things Heard & Seen.” She has also made appearances in TV series like “The Dropout” and “The Crowded Room.

Renowned filmmaker Paul Feig, known for movies like ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘A Simple Favor’, has agreed to direct the upcoming film adaptation of ‘The Housemaid’. Rebecca Sonnenshine (‘Archive 81’) is penning the script. Todd Lieberman from Hidden Pictures will produce this project, in collaboration with Feig and Laura Fischer. The executive producers for the movie are Sweeney, Seyfried, McFadden, and Alex Young.

The movie centers around Millie, a young woman seeking a new beginning after a string of misfortunes. One day, hope appears when she gets hired as a housemaid for the affluent duo, Nina and Andrew. Yet, as she acclimates to her position, she soon uncovers that their seemingly idyllic family conceals hidden darkness and a distorted relationship dynamics.

In this upcoming production, Sweeney is set to take on the character Millie, while Seyfried has been chosen to embody Nina. However, as of now, the actor who will portray Andrew hasn’t been selected since the role is yet to be filled with a cast member. But don’t fret! Once new cast members are confirmed, we’ll make sure to keep you updated promptly.

According to a statement made by Adam Fogelson, who is the head of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, here’s what he had to share about the upcoming movie, as reported by Deadline:

I’m thrilled to have The Housemaid join our upcoming slate. A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start. My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.
