Swiss Stage to fire up the LAN battles at R6 Munich Major 2025

The Rainbow Six esports scene kicks off with a large tournament featuring many initial Swiss System matches. These games will allow top teams to get ready and give less-known teams a chance to surprise everyone with unexpected wins.

Rainbow Six Siege has had a significant year with the launch of R6 Siege X, a major update to the game. Before the official release, we held a large in-person event called RE:L0:AD, which was an invitational tournament. The first major R6 Siege X tournament featuring a full qualification process will be the Munich Major in 2025.

On November 8th, sixteen teams will begin a series of matches called the Swiss Stage. To move forward to the Playoffs, each team needs to win three matches over five rounds. Losing three matches will result in being eliminated from the competition.

Everything about this starting phase of the Rainbow Six Siege X Munich Major 2025 is here.

Swiss Stage, the best chance for the underdogs

Several of the 16 teams competing at the 2025 Rainbow Six Siege Major in Munich are expected to be strong contenders. These teams hail from top regions and have consistently performed well in international competitions. Notable examples include FURIA, FaZe Clan, Team Secret, G2 Esports, and Team Falcons.

Teams will truly have a chance to prove themselves during the intense battles of the Playoffs, where they’ll compete for the championship. The Swiss Stage is more like a preparation period for that main event.

Honestly, I love seeing the underdogs get a chance in Swiss rounds. It’s awesome when players who aren’t usually top contenders can really show what they’re made of, rack up some wins, and totally shock everyone with unexpected victories. It’s what makes tournaments exciting!

The initial rounds of the Swiss stage can be unpredictable. The best-of-one format and the fact that teams are still adjusting often lead to surprising results. It’s worth watching teams from less-established regions, like Weibo Gaming or M80, and also keeping an eye on teams from major regions who might be underestimated and ready to perform at their best.

Following the regional champions

Teams had to compete in challenging regional tournaments to earn a spot at the 2025 R6 Munich Major. It’s exciting to see which teams advanced through the Stage 2 qualifiers.

  • South America is traditionally considered the strongest, as Brazilian Rainbow Six teams are often at the top of international esports events. FURIA won SA Stage 2.

  • Europe & MENA have big successes in 2025, specifically at the R6 Esports World Cup 2025. Team Falcons won the regional Stage 2.

  • North America wants to break the curse of being the third region. The Major in Munich is another chance. M80 are the NA champions.

  • Asia Pacific is a merged region that includes three sub-regions. The Japanese team CAG Osaka won here.

The Rainbow Six Siege Major in Munich will kick off on November 12th, 2025, and the winning team will be decided on November 16th.

A large esports event like this is a great chance for game developers to share what they have planned for future content and competitive play.
