Sweetpea episode 3 brings us to a very exciting and intriguing development (Review)
As a fan who’s been through the wringer with shows like “Dexter” and “Breaking Bad”, I can confidently say that Sweetpea is quickly becoming my new obsession. In episode 3, “Black Spots in the Garage,” Rhiannon takes her murder spree to a whole new level, planning and executing a meticulous scheme to off her high school nemesis, Julia. It’s not every day you find a protagonist as ruthless yet relatable as our dear Sweetpea.
Today is Friday and it brings a fresh episode of the series “Sweetpea” on Starz! This time around, Rhiannon is honing in on her next mark. This particular target could be the most significant one for Rhiannon yet. Here’s our take on the third episode of “Sweetpea,” titled “Black Spots in the Garage.” Warning: Spoilers Ahead.
This episode primarily revolves around Rhiannon devising a strategy to eliminate her tormentor from high school, Julia, who has been causing her distress. It’s quite intriguing that by the third episode – considering there are only six in total, making us reach the halfway point – we witness the gradual escalation of Rhiannon’s violent intentions.
Initially, the act was an impulsive one, driven by rage. Later on, a specific incident at the hospital where her father passed away ignited a similar response towards a certain man. Although she had not intentionally planned it beforehand, she found herself following him. Now, she’s actively devising a strategy to bring Julia to her home with the ultimate goal of eliminating her.
As a fan, I find it intriguing how Julia doesn’t always resort to violence when dealing with annoying situations. For instance, if there’s someone like Jeff at work who just can’t seem to stop being rude, she playfully messes with him by putting something in his coffee that will upset his stomach – it’s quite amusing, I must say. Now, let me clarify that this is purely fictional and not something we should do in real life. However, I believe we all have those individuals in our lives who push our patience to the limit, and sometimes a little payback or justice served feels like just what they deserve, doesn’t it?
Ryan’s mother visits the newsroom too, as AJ and Rhiannon had promised they would compose a heartfelt article about Ryan’s passing. However, the story took an unexpected turn. Rhiannon should exercise caution and improve her emotional control because she was rather blunt with the grieving mother. Yes, Ryan had been a bully, but losing a child in such tragic circumstances makes it difficult for any parent, especially his mother.
Craig is becoming incredibly bothersome now, it seems like he’s solely focused on Rhiannon due to the business proposition he has for her father’s firm. If she paid closer attention, she might realize that AJ could have feelings for her. To be honest, I sense something romantic from him. And what makes him stand out is that he was the first one to take notice of Rhiannon, even before she discovered this newfound strength in herself.
In conclusion, the climax of the novel Sweetpea becomes increasingly intriguing as Rhiannon hatches a scheme for Julia. She manages to lure Julia back to her house under the pretense of showing her alleged black mold in the garage. There, Rhiannon spills all her secrets to Julia, such as her intention to end Julia’s life. Surprisingly, Julia remains as annoying as ever and even dares to ask for an apology from Rhiannon. Frankly, I can’t help but think that she’s just inviting death at this stage in the story.
Initially, I thought Julia’s demise wouldn’t be as straightforward as the others, given her significant role as an antagonist and Rhiannon’s intense desire to eliminate her among all others in her life. However, when Rhiannon struck Julia over the head, I wasn’t taken aback that she regained consciousness and didn’t die. And then, it concludes – what a suspenseful ending!
In this third installment of Sweetpea, we delve into the consequences of Rhiannon’s actions, as her innate killer instinct becomes more strategic rather than impulsive. Instead of acting on a whim, she’s now devising plans. As we’re halfway through the season, there are only three episodes left, and I can’t wait to witness the unfolding drama between Rhiannon and Julia! Last week was a bit lethargic at times, but this episode maintained an engaging pace that kept me hooked. Overall, I’d rate this episode as ‘B’.
