Susan Wokoma’s returning BBC show confirms release date with first look
As a gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the complexities of digital relationships and their real-life counterparts, I can’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie with the characters of Cheaters. The intrigue, drama, and unpredictability of this comedy-drama series are reminiscent of my own virtual escapades, albeit with higher stakes and more tangible consequences.
The BBC has confirmed a release date for Cheaters series two.
On Tuesday, November 19th, the comedy-drama featuring Susan Wokoma and Joshua McGuire will debut on both BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Additionally, some initial sneak peeks of the upcoming show have been revealed, offering viewers a sneak peek at the changing journeys of characters Fola (Wokoma), Josh (McGuire), Esther (Callie Cooke), and Zack (Jack Fox).
In 2022, I became enthralled by the debut of the “Cheaters” series, which introduced me to two individuals, Fola and Josh, who found themselves in an unexpected predicament. Their flights had been delayed, leading them to cross paths and share a one-night stand, despite both having committed partners waiting for them at home.
Things became even more complicated when the pair discovered that they had become new neighbours, with Fola and her husband Zack moving into the house next to Josh and his girlfriend Esther.
In the second season, we’ll catch up with Fola and Josh six months later, as they navigate through the further development of their growing relationship.
On the other hand, Fola prefers a gradual approach due to her ongoing divorce proceedings with Zack, whereas Josh becomes quite anxious during difficult discussions and tends to go to great (and perhaps imprudent) lengths to provide her with distance.
Simultaneously, Zack silently resolves to reclaim Fola, while Esther, Josh’s ex-girlfriend who has been traveling, finally returns. This sets the stage for crucial choices from all parties. Will a romance born out of an affair be able to rise above its complicated origins?
Earlier this year, it was announced that “Cheaters” would be returning for a second season, and Petra Fried, Co-Managing Director at Clerkenwell Films, hinted that we can expect some fresh faces joining the cast as well.
As a gamer, it’s awesome to have our “Cheaters” returning on BBC again! Now, we can witness how the two neighboring clans are handling their realigned friendships, and also encounter some fresh faces that the audience will get acquainted with soon enough.
Cheaters series two will arrive on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Tuesday, November 19.
