I was so saddened to hear about the passing of ‘Mary Magdalene,’ a social media personality who was well-known for openly documenting her many cosmetic procedures. She was found deceased in Thailand, and it’s a truly tragic loss. It really highlights the pressures people face, especially with social media, and the risks associated with extreme body modification. It’s a reminder to prioritize well-being over appearances.
Denise Ivonne Jarvis Gongora, 33, died after falling from a ninth-floor balcony at the Patong Tower condominium in Phuket. She had checked in for a single night just hours before the incident, according to a report from the Phuket News this week.
The Daily Mail has confirmed the woman’s identity through police records and has also learned of her death from family sources.
Hotel staff found the body of the Mexican-Canadian model in the hotel parking lot after 1:30 p.m., according to Police Captain Channarong Prakongkuea of Patong Police Station.
According to Khaosod English, Mary’s body was moved from Patong Hospital to Vachira Phuket Hospital so doctors could perform a complete autopsy and figure out how she died.

Phuket News didn’t publish her name at first, waiting to tell her family first.
Just before she passed away, Mary shared a puzzling post on social media. It included a scene from the 1998 movie The Truman Show and a picture of herself as a child.
In a clip she posted to Instagram, Truman Burbank – the character played by Jim Carrey – takes a bow and says, ‘And if we don’t meet again, good afternoon, good evening, and good night.’
She also changed the username of one of her other Instagram accounts to ‘MaryMagdaleneDied’.
As a lifestyle expert, I can tell you that when a story breaks, responsible reporting means reaching out to all sides. In this case, the Daily Mail contacted the Mexican Embassy, local police in Patong and Phuket Tourist Police, and also tried to connect with people who knew the individuals involved, like their friends and family, to get a complete picture.
Friends and fans, including rapper Kreayshawn, drag star Plane Jane from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and social media personality Eden the Doll, have already shared their tributes to Mary.
Her brother Ivan also shared a heartbreaking tribute to his sister on Thursday.
Ivan shared a photo of himself with Mary from a lunch they had in Mexico, and wrote a caption saying he regretted not getting to know her better.
He went on to say how incredibly funny and creative she was, admitting he could never measure up. He expressed his love for her in a way that felt beyond words, telling her she meant the world to him. He wished their situation could be different, and ended by thanking her for everything, reiterating his love for her like a brother.

Mary gained over half a million social media followers because of the extensive plastic surgery she underwent.
She was a well-regarded artist known for her unique, colorful paintings, sculptures, and portraits, and had a dedicated group of fans.
Mary has shared in interviews that she was raised in a very religious household where even watching Disney movies wasn’t allowed when she was a child.
She rebelled at age 12, when she became sexually active and started doing drugs.
‘Twelve, thirteen were the wildest years of my life,’ she said on the No Jumper podcast.
‘I was doing lines of cocaine. I was going to school drunk in grade seven and eight.’
By 17, Mary was working as a stripper and later started escorting.
She became famous online due to her cosmetic surgeries, and then started earning money through the platform OnlyFans.
She previously shared that OnlyFans allowed her to quit jobs that were negatively affecting her mental health, and she’s now able to support herself solely through the platform.

Mary had her first boob job at age 21 in Mexico by a local dentist, which was botched.
She’s had numerous cosmetic procedures over the years, including brow lifts, fat grafting, liposuction on both her face and body, several rhinoplasties and breast augmentations, dental veneers, and a cat-eye lift. She’s also experienced complications like silicone infections related to her butt, and has undergone multiple Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs) in addition to having butt implants.
I first started following her back in 2018, and honestly, I was shocked by what she did. She had a really risky surgery to get vaginal fillers, and her stated goal was to have the most enlarged vagina possible. It definitely got a lot of attention online, but it was pretty extreme.
She previously described a terrifying experience during the procedure, explaining she lost so much blood that she needed two transfusions. The doctor was very concerned, telling her she was becoming dangerously pale and feared she wouldn’t survive.
She had a follow-up surgery, a vaginoplasty, to repair damage and restore her genital area after expressing dissatisfaction with the initial procedure.
Because many of her cosmetic procedures were performed illegally, she frequently traveled internationally – from Colombia to Russia and elsewhere – to undergo surgery.
She faced life-threatening complications after undergoing illegal butt injections. At one point, tissue in her buttocks began to decay, and she shockingly attempted to repair the damage herself using superglue.

In early 2023, one of her breast implants ruptured, causing it to deflate and leaving her with only one breast temporarily.
It’s unknown why the implant ruptured, but many fans thought the celebrity may have inflated it too much with an expander at the time.
Some implants have a special feature called an expander, which lets patients add saline themselves using a needle and a small port on the implant. Mary frequently mentioned being able to do this herself.
Her surgeries led to multiple health complications for the model.
She shared in 2022 that numerous lip procedures had left her unable to close her mouth.
She also had to go to the emergency room because a tattoo on her breast became infected, which led to a potentially life-threatening infection called sepsis.
More recently, she almost went blind after tattooing her eyeballs blue and yellow.
In the year before her death, Mary had started tattooing her entire upper body in pure black ink.

Even though she repeatedly had cosmetic surgery, she sometimes admitted she wished she hadn’t changed her appearance so much and wanted to look more natural.
In a heartfelt post from 2023, she revealed she felt stuck in a continuous loop of plastic surgery, repeatedly undergoing procedures to correct previous ones that hadn’t gone as planned.
‘It’s not a fun little adventure anymore, it’s just draining in every possible way,’ she said.
It really takes a toll – on my time, money, energy, and even my health. Ultimately, it just creates a costly and time-consuming problem that gets worse and worse.
