Suranne Jones’ “eccentric” next character revealed in BBC’s first look at Manchester-set show

The fresh TV show titled “Film Club,” featuring Suranne Jones and Aimee Lou Wood, unveiled its initial photos for public viewing.

The six-episode production penned by Wood along with co-star Ralph Davis, narrates the tale of Evie (portrayed by Wood) and her dearest companion Noa (played by Nabhaan Rizwaan). They share a weekly movie club that serves as an opportunity to weave a magical realm.

In a surprising twist, Evie’s life gets flipped when Noa shares his plan to relocate across the country for an exciting new opportunity. As she grapples with the possibility of saying goodbye to her dearest friend, Evie starts to ponder if Noa might have been something more than just a friend.

Prior to the television debut of the show on BBC Three coming up later this year, the network has unveiled the initial pictures from the production. In these images, characters Evie and Noa are shown in a warm and festively adorned garage, where they run their movie club.

Another picture features actress Suranne Jones, known for her roles in Vigil and Gentleman Jack, portraying Suz, Evie’s “quirkier-than-average” mom; her on-screen sister Izzie, played by Liv Hill, is also present in the photo.

Besides the previously mentioned stars, Film Club will also include Adam Long portraying Evie’s boyfriend, Josh. The ensemble is completed by Davis, Arian Nik, Fola Evans Akingbola, and Owen Cooper.

It’s Friday evening at 7pm, and it’s Film Club Week 198. For the past six months, Evie has been confined to her home following a setback, but tonight feels unusual. Noa has some significant news to share – he’s landed a fantastic job that requires him to relocate to another part of the country, which means their current situation is coming to an end.

It’s becoming clear that something more than friendship may be at play between them. Both have historically struggled with emotional expression, but this time their feelings might be too strong to deny or overlook.

Evie’s life is about to become even more complex as she deals with her family’s peculiarities, residing in their household which includes her warm-hearted, strong-willed single mom Suz, her sister Izzie, and her boyfriend Josh who sometimes takes on a dominant role.

Film Club will air on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer later this year.
