Fans might be getting another season of Doctor Foster after a nearly eight-year gap. Suranne Jones, who originally played Gemma Foster in 2015 and returned for a second season in 2017, could be reprising her role. She’s also known for her work in Gentleman Jack and Vigil.
In the BBC series, Jones acted alongside Jodie Comer, known from Killing Eve, playing Kate Parks, a college student involved in a relationship with Gemma’s husband.
The show, which draws inspiration from the Greek myth of Medea, might get a third season. While rumors suggest Jones will reprise her role as Gemma, there’s been no word on whether Comer will return as Kate.
What to Read Next
So, I was reading in The Sun that they’re planning to start filming the third season next year! If everything goes smoothly, we might actually get to see it around late 2026 or early 2027. Fingers crossed!
Digital Spy reached out to the BBC, who declined to comment on the rumours.

Jones previously cited “busy” schedules as the reason why season three hadn’t come into fruition.
Back in January 2018, she explained she doesn’t like to completely dismiss any possibility. She said that saying ‘no’ closes doors, but right now, she and her team have a lot on their plate.
I’m busy filming until the end of 2018, which means I won’t have any free time until 2019. Because we’re still celebrating the success of the second installment, we haven’t discussed what comes next, so it’s really uncertain at this point.
There haven’t been any official announcements about whether the popular, suspenseful series will return, according to one IMDb user.
The other women I was with were really into it, and we spent a lot of time talking about how things could play out. They said it was full of surprises and kept you on the edge of your seat.

Jones has had a productive year, starring in three different television shows. One of these is the Netflix political thriller, Hostage, which she also helped produce.
She went on to appear in the ITV miniseries Frauds alongside Jodie Whittaker, and also had a role in Film Club, a TV series created by and featuring Aimee Lou Wood.
Doctor Foster season 1-2 are streaming on BBC iPlayer.
