Supreme Taps Spike Lee’s 40 Acres for ‘Malcolm X’ and ‘Clockers’ Capsule

In collaboration, Supreme has teamed up with the movie production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks (established by iconic filmmaker Spike Lee and Monty Ross in 1979), to introduce a fashion line inspired by Lee’s films, specifically Malcolm X and Clockers.

40 Acres and a Mule is the creative studio behind all of Lee’s documentaries, feature films, memorable commercials such as his Air Jordan ads from the ’80s, and music videos like Public Enemy’s “Fight The Power”. Established following a vow broken to former slaves after the Civil War, it experienced great success in its early years. In the 90s, the studio expanded into fashion with an apparel line, which Lee sold through his retail outlets, Spike’s Joint, in New York and Los Angeles.

Showcasing the director’s impressive and diverse career, the 40 Acres collection by Supreme includes a varsity jacket, a baseball jersey, two t-shirts, and a six-panel hat, all inspired by Lee’s work. Notable pieces include a varsity jacket displaying a circular 40 Acre patch and Supreme lettering on the chest, along with a large X emblazoned across the back, referencing Spike Lee’s movie starring Denzel Washington as Malcolm X, the famous Black activist.

In the future, the baseball jersey will carry the 40 Acres logo, with “Supreme” and “40” written in block letters on the back, similar to a player’s name and number. One t-shirt displays an iconic photo of Lee holding a camera over his chest, while another showcases the same “X” symbol. Completing the collection, the cap is adorned with symbols from the movie “Clockers”.
