Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles Becomes an Action Hero in First Trailer for New Prime Video Series
Viewers are about to enjoy a delight! Having followed the actor on his demon-hunting journey across 15 seasons in “Supernatural”, they’ll find an ideal successor now.
Upcoming on Prime Video, Jared Padalecki’s series titled “Countdown” is set to premiere soon. In this thriller, Padalecki takes center stage as LAPD detective Mark Meachum, departing from his previous roles of battling demons and supernatural beings. However, his latest mission involves preventing a potential terrorist attack instead.
The fifty-one second trailer hints at the upcoming thriller series being filled with intense action. It starts off showing a flashback from Jared Padalecki as Ackles’ Meachum and Jessica Camacho as Amber Olivera, who had a terrifying encounter involving a bomb. Despite their ordeal, they appeared unfazed and eager to resume work the following day. Later, they are enlisted by an elite squad responsible for thwarting a major terrorist attack in Los Angeles.
As a film enthusiast, I’d rephrase that as: “When a daylight slaying of a Department of Homeland Security officer leaves everyone stunned, I, LAPD detective Mark Meachum, am summoned to join a clandestine task force. This team comprises agents from various law enforcement sectors. At first, we’re on the hunt for the killer, but our investigation reveals a chilling plot that dwarfs anyone’s wildest imaginations. Now, it’s a desperate race against time to safeguard a city teeming with millions.
It’s not surprising that the trailer is filled with action; after all, the show is produced by Derek Haas, who has a history of working in the action genre. He penned the script for movies like “2 Fast 2 Furious” from 2003 and “Wanted” from 2008, and he’s also the brains behind popular series such as the “Chicago” franchise (including “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Justice,” and “Chicago Justice”), as well as the spinoff of “FBI: International.
Beyond Ackles and Camacho, the show “Countdown” additionally features Eric Dane portraying Nathan Bluthe, Violett Beane playing Evan Shepherd, Elliot Knight as Keyonte Bell, and Uli Latukefu in the role of Lucas Finau.
Amazon created the thriller series “Countdown,” tailored specifically for Jensen Ackles. This is his second joint venture with the streaming platform, following his role in the superhero satirical series “The Boys” where he played Soldier Boy on a recurring basis. He expressed enthusiasm at the time, saying, “I had an amazing experience working with Prime Video on The Boys, and I’m thrilled to be able to carry on that partnership with Countdown. I can’t wait to collaborate with Derek and our entire Countdown team to bring this story to life.” In addition, Ackles is also working on a prequel spinoff of “The Boys, titled Vought Rising.
