Supernatural Dominates Streaming Charts on Peacock After Netflix Exit

Fans recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of the show’s ending. While it was a long-time favorite, it’s no longer available to stream on the platform.

Okay, so when Supernatural disappeared from Netflix on December 18th, it was crazy – everyone immediately started buying it, and it topped the charts the very next day! But thankfully, it didn’t stay off streaming for long. Prime Video and Peacock both picked it up. I started watching it on Peacock, and honestly, it’s been a huge success – FlixPatrol says it’s already a massive hit over there!

After moving from Netflix to Prime Video, Supernatural remained popular for a short time, briefly ranking between sixth and eighth place. However, it was no longer listed among Prime Video’s most-watched shows by December 24th.

The show started at number five on Peacock, but quickly rose to the top spot the very next day, and has stayed there ever since.

Created by Eric Kripke, Supernatural featured Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as brothers Dean and Sam Winchester. The show followed their journey hunting supernatural beings while searching for their missing father, John.

As a long-time fan, it was amazing to see Supernatural grow beyond just Sam and Dean. Over the years, they really built out the world with fantastic characters like Castiel, played by Misha Collins, and Jack Kline, brought to life by Alexander Calvert. And honestly, I was thrilled whenever Jim Beaver showed up as Bobby Singer – he’s a legend! Mark Sheppard as Crowley was another highlight; he quickly became a crucial part of the show’s dynamic.

The CW series was critically acclaimed, earning a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes over its 15 seasons. Nine of those seasons even received a perfect 100% score. Viewers gave it a 73% rating.

Despite being a popular show, Supernatural didn’t launch a long-running franchise. It did get one spinoff, The Winchesters, which was a prequel focusing on Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents, John and Mary, with a unique take on their story. Jensen Ackles, who played Dean, also produced the show with his wife, Danneel, and returned as the narrator. However, The Winchesters was canceled after just one season.

The Supernatural Stars Will Reunite Soon

While fans are hoping for a reboot of Supernatural, there’s been no official word about it. But good news for fans of the original series: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins – the show’s main stars – will be reuniting soon in The Boys, a satirical superhero show on Prime Video. Interestingly, The Boys was created by Eric Kripke, the same person who brought us Supernatural.

Several former stars of Supernatural have already appeared in the series, including Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jim Beaver, and Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy. Ackles is set to star in his own spin-off show, Vought Rising, but first he’ll be back for Season 5 of The Boys. While details about their roles are being kept secret, it’s expected that these actors will share scenes together.

Supernatural is available to stream on Prime Video and Peacock.
