Superman: James Gunn Is Considering 2 DCU Spin-off Shows

James Gunn is considering making at least two Superman-related spin-off television shows.

Currently, you can catch Superman on the big screens across U.S. theaters. This film, written and directed by Gunn, is a production of DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures. In the lead role, we have David Corenswet portraying our hero, while Rachel Brosnahan takes on Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult steps into the shoes of Lex Luthor.

What Superman spin-off shows are being considered?

Based on reports from The Wall Street Journal, there are potential plans for separate series on DCU TV featuring characters Mister Terrific, portrayed by Edi Gathegi, and Jimmy Olsen, acted by Skyler Gisondo.

At the moment, these projects have not been announced as currently under production by DC. If they do move forward, it’s uncertain when they might be released. However, according to previous statements made by Peter Safran, DC aims to launch two live-action and two animated series each year.

Currently, only Peacemaker Season 2 has a confirmed release date (August 21, 2026) on DC’s TV lineup. The Lanterns series is anticipated to debut in 2026 as well. Other shows such as Waller, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold, and more have been announced but do not yet have specific release dates.

In addition to Tyler Hoechlin playing Superman, the cast features Anthony Carrigan portraying Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spca/The Engineer, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. in this production.
