Superman is a worldwide streaming hit – here’s why it’s not available yet in the UK

James Gunn’s *Superman* is a huge success on streaming platforms around the globe, even though it’s not yet available in the UK. Here’s a look at how well the superhero film is doing and when UK viewers can expect to see it.

This new movie reimagines the DC Universe with David Corenswet as Superman. He plays a journalist who must also stop the evil Lex Luthor (played by Nicholas Hoult) from carrying out a dangerous plan.

I was so excited when *Superman* finally hit Max last week (September 19th) after its big run in theaters! It was a huge success in cinemas, bringing in over $615 million, and it seems like everyone’s been watching it on Max too – it’s already the most-watched movie on the platform!

Max isn’t available in the UK yet, but it’s planned to launch in early 2026. Currently, HBO partners with Sky, meaning Warner Bros. movies – including DC films – usually become available on Sky Cinema and NOW about eight months after they’re released in theaters.

This suggests that the movie *Superman* likely won’t be available to stream until around March 2026. However, it could also be the main feature used to promote the launch of Max, whenever that happens.

For now, people in the UK can rent or purchase the film online. It costs £15.99 to rent and £19.99 to buy on Amazon. There are three different versions available – Standard, High Definition, and Ultra High Definition – all at the same price.

The film did well in theaters and was also a hit with critics, earning an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 487 reviews.

After the movie came out, writer and director James Gunn discussed how he creates post-credits scenes. He explained that his approach has changed since he worked on the Guardians of the Galaxy films for Marvel.

Post-credits scenes can be tricky. Using them only to hint at future stories can actually hurt the overall impact, like forcing something that doesn’t quite fit, he explained.
