Superman Fans Think Adria Arjona Is Playing a Big DC Hero, Not Maxima

The news that Adria Arjona might be in the upcoming film Man of Tomorrow has sparked debate about who she’ll play. While many believe she’s been cast as Maxima, some fans think she could be portraying a well-known hero. Production is set to begin soon, with the movie expected to come out in Summer 2027.

Is Adria Arjona playing Maxima or Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow?

It’s currently unclear if Adria Arjona is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow.

I was so excited to read on Deadline and Variety that this actress was cast as Maxima! But then I checked The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap, and it turns out she is involved with the movie, but they aren’t saying what role she’s playing yet. It’s a bit confusing, but still exciting!

Because some news sources didn’t reveal which character she was portraying, many fans thought the actor from Andor might be cast as Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe.

There’s growing belief that actress Gal Gadot Arjona could play Wonder Woman in the future, and it seems James Gunn agrees. He recently explained that he started following her on Instagram because he thinks “She’d be a great Wonder Woman.”

Gunn hasn’t officially said whether Arjona will play Maxima, Wonder Woman, or even be in the movie. So, fans will need to wait for an official announcement to get confirmation.

Deadline previously reported that actor Arjona was being considered for the role of Maxima, along with Marisa Abela and Ella Purnell. However, James Gunn quickly clarified on Threads that the report wasn’t true. He confirmed he’s friends with Arjona, but stated he hadn’t met Abela or Purnell, despite admiring their work.

Even so, the publication continued to list Arjona as a source in a later article covering screen tests, alongside actors Sydney Chandler, Grace Van Patten, and Eva De Dominici.

The new Superman movie, currently titled ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ is set to release on July 9, 2027. According to DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, filming will begin next week. The film will likely feature Superman, played by David Corenswet, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor teaming up to face a major villain, potentially Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
