Superman and Lois and 4 other comic book shows to watch in October 2024

As a die-hard fan of both Marvel and DC, I must say that October is shaping up to be quite the exciting month for us geeks! If you ask me, it seems like the powers that be are pulling out all the stops to make this spooky season one for the books.

After a long wait, it’s high time we soar off! Indeed, over a year since its third season ended, “Superman and Lois” is back on The CW for its fourth – and regrettably last – season. This cherished DC TV show remains the last vestige of their Arrowverse franchise, and fans eagerly anticipate honoring that legacy by watching the 10-episode final season.

October is quite special because it boasts several superhero and comic book shows for our viewing pleasure! Apart from Clark Kent and Lois Lane carrying the DC torch, another DC TV show will dominate airtime this month. Additionally, fresh episodes of a new Marvel favorite, another Walking Dead spinoff, and a popular Netflix series adapted from a beloved comic book will also be gracing our screens.

This upcoming creepy season promises an extraordinary experience if you’re into superhero tales with cape-wearing characters flying through the sky, or heartfelt stories about love and emotions – there are plenty of comic book adaptations to look forward to!

Heartstopper season 3

Release date: October 3, 2024

Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring are back for another heartwarming episode of the beloved TV series, “Heartstopper.” The popular streaming service, Netflix, was overwhelmed by the affection for the show after its debut season, promptly ordering it for two more seasons. With the second season transporting our cherished characters to Paris, the third promises a return to reality with a grounded and emotional installment that seems poised to delve into the series’ most mature themes as of yet.

In the upcoming third season of “Heartstopper,” it appears that Nick becomes increasingly anxious about his boyfriend Charlie, as he grapples with his challenges. He’s determined to find ways to support him, despite knowing he may not be able to handle everything on his own. This new installment promises to be another heart-wrenching journey that will undoubtedly rekindle the affection fans have for Nick and Charlie, strengthening their bond even further.

The world feels brighter with Heartstopper around; and undeniably, our October months gain a special charm because of it.

Superman and Lois season 4

Release date: October 7, 2024

Following a lengthy 12-month hiatus, the television series “Superman and Lois” is back on our screens for its fourth and final season this month. It’s no exaggeration to say we’ve been eagerly awaiting its return; given the creative team’s dedication to ending the show in a way that truly stands out. One of the methods they plan to achieve this? By incorporating the storyline “The Death of Superman” into the final season!

Previously, the Man of Steel was engaged in a fierce fight with Doomsday, a being created from Bizarro’s remains by Lex Luthor. This battle took place on the moon following Superman’s defense against Doomsday’s aggressive assault. However, judging from the trailer for season 4, it appears that Clark may vanquish this monster, but at the possible price of his own existence.

What reaction might the people of Smallville (and the global community) exhibit following what seems to be the demise of their beloved hero, and how will the Kent-Lane-Irons family cope with the apparent loss of their father, spouse, and comrade? Predicting such responses can be challenging, but let’s cross our fingers for a miraculous Superman resurrection to finally bring an end to Lex Luthor’s reign.

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch have truly shone in their portrayal of these timeless figures, leaving us eagerly anticipating their next performance.

Agatha All Along

Releases: New episodes every Wednesday in October

I dived back into the enchanting realm of Westview last month with Marvel Studios’ fresh MCU Disney Plus series, Agatha All Along. This spinoff from WandaVision shines a spotlight on Agatha Harkness, an ancient witch who found herself ensnared in the Scarlet Witch’s spell. However, when Agatha manages to escape her Agnes disguise, a brand-new puzzle unravels itself before me.

In this captivating cast, Kathryn Hahn takes center stage alongside Joe Locke from ‘Heartstopper’, Aubrey Plaza, Debra Jo Rupp, and Patti LuPone. The character Agatha embarks on the Witches’ Path to regain her past grandeur, but faces challenges as she evades the vengeful Salem Seven. To endure the numerous challenges and deceits along her journey with her coven, she must find a way to survive.

Agatha All Along is set to keep running until the end of October, including a thrilling two-episode finale on October 30th. This makes it an ideal Halloween viewing!

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 (“The Book of Carol”)

Releases: New episodes every Sunday in October

In the second season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” two fan-favorites from “The Walking Dead” make a comeback. This promises an affecting reunion as Melissa McBride returns as Carol Peletier, eager to confront any foe, living or undead, in search of her cherished friend, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).

As a devoted fan, I remember our last encounter with Daryl, where he was deeply pondering his departure from France to reunite with his family back in the US. However, his commitment to safeguarding Laurent became his immediate priority, as he bravely shielded the young lad from danger once more. Yet, the relentless walkers and the emergence of fresh adversaries promise that our beloved TWD characters will still face numerous trials ahead.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel exhilarated about diving back into the world of Daryl Dixon! The first season left me spellbound with its innovative storytelling, captivating acting, and jaw-dropping visuals. And now, as we approach the end of September, the second season is premiering, and it’s shaping up to be just as extraordinary. I can hardly wait to turn the pages of “The Book of Carol” – it’s going to be an unforgettable adventure!

The Penguin

Releases: New episodes every Sunday in October

The saga of Matt Reeves’ Batman movies carries on in the HBO spin-off titled The Penguin, with Colin Farrell reprising his role as the famous DC antagonist. This character is set on a path to become the future crime lord of Gotham City.

“The show debuted to widespread acclaim in late September, and it’s set to carry on through October. Oz Cobb is aiming to establish his reputation following The Riddler’s assault on the city. The series picks up a week after the 2022 movie, serving as a link between it and its 2026 sequel titled The Batman – Part II.

The new version of ‘The Penguin’ is significantly darker than its earlier counterpart, revealing an aspect of Gotham City that the police department would rather keep hidden. Farrell delivers an outstanding performance in this role, one that seems fitting for a character from ‘The Sopranos.’ Given how captivating this DC crime series is, he fits right in with ‘The Penguin’ too.
