Superman 4DX: You NEED To See This
Note: The information below could potentially reveal plot details from James Gunn’s Superman. However, these spoilers are crucial for emphasizing just how fantastic this movie is when viewed in 4DX format.
Be aware that some plot points from James Gunn’s Superman might be disclosed. But don’t worry, as they’re important in demonstrating how amazing this film is when experienced in a 4DX theater.
In 2025, DC Films steps into the spotlight with the release of the movie Superman, offering global audiences a beacon of hope. Not only does this film serve as an exceptional opening act for the narrative of DCU: Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, it’s also a remarkable revival of what makes Clark Kent, and his alter ego, an iconic symbol of optimism and moral integrity.
Apologies, but it seems I’m getting a bit too enthusiastic about the topic at hand, which might be more suited for other discussions. However, if you’re familiar with my preference for premium formats or have read the title above, then you know our focus today is on the 4DX experience. Given the short timeframe for 4DX screenings, I strongly recommend experiencing this movie in that format to truly appreciate why such an innovative approach to cinema is significant.
Superman Was Filmed For IMAX, So Don’t Ignore That
In a simpler and more conversational manner: I want to clarify that I have deep admiration for IMAX, the first high-end cinema format that captured my interest. When “Superman Returns” was available in IMAX with certain 3D scenes, I went out of my way to watch it at my local theater and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Therefore, when there was a misunderstanding about whether “Superman” was truly filmed for IMAX, I felt a sense of confusion deep down.
You don’t have to worry about cancelling your tickets if you’ve already bought them, especially for opening weekend. However, I strongly recommend that you make time to watch Superman in 4DX. Here are some compelling reasons why you shouldn’t miss this experience.
Prioritize it to elevate the movie’s enjoyment, making it more immersive and engaging, much like the heightened experience of being in a top-tier 4DX ride. This format will make you truly feel the thrilling adventures of Superman, taking things to a whole new level.

You Will Believe You Are Superman (And Krypto) In 4DX
When “Superman: The Movie” premiered in 1978, its memorable tagline was “You’ll believe a man can fly.” Now, nearly half a century later, audiences need something more captivating to entice them into the theater. However, the trailer for “Superman” certainly did the trick! But that’s just the beginning, as the 4DX version of this DC comic story will make you truly experience being Kryptonian.
Initially, when David Corenswet’s Man of Steel collides with snow, we resonate with his strife. Yet, we simultaneously sense the frenetic spirit of Krypto – manifesting through both affectionate and protective outbursts. Notably, Supes stands out in 4DX presentation, as the water effects are skillfully utilized during his flights to and from the Fortress of Solitude.
Regarding the dynamic seating experience, it’s not just about floating. It involves being jostled, colliding with the floor, and even spinning mid-flight. So, remember to review the safety guidelines of 4DX carefully prior to visiting the cinema.

4DX Strobe Lights And Air Cannons Are Back, Baby!
As a dedicated film enthusiast, if you’ve perused my latest review on “Jurassic World Rebirth” in 3D/4DX or any recent assessments I’ve made regarding this immersive experience, you’d know that elements like strobe lighting and seat-mounted air cannons have been missing from the mix. So, picture my exhilaration when I found myself once more feeling the wind whip past my head as bullets were fired, and witnessed the strategic deployment of strobe lights in sync with the action’s pivotal moments.
The attack on the Fortress of Solitude, orchestrated by Lex Luthor (portrayed by Nicholas Hoult) and Angela “The Engineer” Spica (María Gabriela de Faría), effectively demonstrates these effects in a compelling manner. It’s a type of scene we often see in trailers, but experiencing it as if it were real is something truly distinct. A significant part of this immersion comes from the movie’s use of 3D visuals, contributing to its name with three of its four “D” elements!

James Gunn’s Premium Format Track Record Continues To Impress
Let’s travel back to 2014, friends. Back then, an up-and-coming indie filmmaker named James Gunn was hyping up the release of Guardians of the Galaxy. Instead of just another behind-the-scenes featurette, though, what he shared was something extraordinary – a video that has significantly shaped his career as a blockbuster director, and I believe it’s worth revisiting:

Mr. Gunn has consistently preferred premium film formats, as demonstrated by his work across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Notably, the exceptional 3D rendition of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” serves as a recent illustration of how he and his team continue to deliver great value for money.
With common brightness concerns addressed, the visual effects stand out brilliantly, and the depth of field is exceptionally crisp, particularly for facial details and large groups. Given the team responsible for such emotionally intense moments as my teary-eyed gaze into Rocket Raccoon’s distress while wearing polarized sunglasses, this level of clarity isn’t surprising at all.
The film, titled Superman, demonstrates that James Gunn’s exceptional directorial skill is still intact. The film offers breathtaking 3D effects that complement the intensity of its 4DX counterpart perfectly. It seems as though Gunn himself could be sitting in a 4DX theater, meticulously directing minor adjustments such as making one Ultraman punch less intense, amplifying water effects, and enhancing the 3D depiction of Krypto’s growl directed at Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi) to make it more pronounced.

Warner Bros. Has Owned 4DX This Year, And The Competition Needs To Take Notice
I’ve brought up this topic in the 2025 film market on two previous occasions, and I’m ready to discuss it again. You may recall that Warner Bros. was one of the first studios to embrace IMAX conversions as a way to elevate a movie’s popularity. In a year where films like Superman, F1, and Sinners have all benefited from enhanced 4DX experiences, this is another tradition that remains strong.
It’s not that other studios haven’t achieved amazing feats in the format; Universal Pictures’ work on “The Wild Robot” and “Wicked” in 3D/4DX is still a testament to immersing audiences into the action. Furthermore, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” and “28 Years Later” are also notable for their exceptional achievements.

In my movie-loving opinion, 2025 looks set to be a significant year for the expanding 4DX format, with Warner Bros. playing a major role. This prediction can actually be traced back to last summer when they collaborated with Universal on Twisters. The market is now ready for rivalry, which is amusing given that Superman’s appearance in the DC Universe typically brings forth a multitude of heroes and villains eager to face him.
I’m absolutely thrilled to experience and immerse myself in what’s coming next, and if that excitement doesn’t compel you to revisit the Last Son of Krypton in 4DX, that’s perfectly fine. Just remember that the legacy-quel of ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ might be dominating many screenings, as this R-rated horror/thriller is also poised to captivate audiences with the allure of this format.
