An actor who played a villain in the upcoming DC Universe film, Superman, has revealed a dramatic physical transformation as he prepares to return for Superman 2. Following the introduction of several memorable villains in the first DCU movie, Superman, the sequel will feature a new set of challenges for the hero. Frank Grillo, who will be returning as Rick Flag Sr. in the upcoming DC film Man of Tomorrow, recently shared a glimpse of his intense workout routine on Instagram. Working out in front of a boxing poster, Grillo wore a headband and went shirtless, revealing his impressive physique. He’s known for staying in top shape for his superhero roles and is getting back into form for his third time playing the character in a live-action DC Universe film.

Joe Manganiello will reprise his role as Rick Flag Sr. in James Gunn’s DC Universe, starting with Superman 2. He’s already voiced the character in the animated series Creature Commandos and played the ARGUS leader in both Superman and Season 2 of Peacemaker.

The upcoming film Man of Tomorrow is the fourth movie planned as part of the first phase of DC Studios’ new universe, called Gods and Monsters. Starring David Corenswet as Superman, along with Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, and Frank Grillo, the movie will feature Superman and Lex Luthor joining forces to battle the alien villain Brainiac.
