Recent updates about the new DC movie Superman have revealed the second major cast member after Brainiac. While details are still scarce about James Gunn’s upcoming sequel, it’s expected that Nicholas Hoult will return as Lex Luthor and David Corenswet as Superman. The two will reportedly team up to face the villain Brainiac, but beyond that, very little is known about the film, leaving fans eager for more information.
A recent report suggests we might learn more about the highly anticipated sequel to Man of Tomorrow. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, filmmakers are searching for a woman in her twenties to play a key part in the movie. While Richtman didn’t share specifics about the character, some additional details have surfaced since his initial report.
Building on Richtman’s earlier reporting, Nexus Point News has learned the character will likely be played by an actress in her 20s, and described as having a tough, assertive personality. The studio is looking for taller actresses for the part, and is seeking someone with a strong, athletic physique, fitting a warrior-like character.
This clue could refer to many well-known DC heroes, but Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Black Canary, and Power Girl seem like the most likely candidates.
If the team is currently auditioning actors for this role, we’ll probably hear who they cast next. This comes after news that DC Studios is also searching for someone to play Brainiac, the movie’s main villain.
Scheduled for release on July 9, 2027, Superman: Man of Tomorrow will feature Superman and Lex Luthor joining forces to battle a new enemy. James Gunn, who leads DC Studios, is writing and directing the film, which will be the first sequel within the new DC Universe. Production is slated to begin early next year.
Who Is Superman 2’s Mystery Female Hero?

James Gunn often surprises us with unexpected characters, so this new hero could be a lesser-known figure from DC Comics history. However, a few names stand out as the most probable candidates.
Wonder Woman is arguably the most prominent project in development. A standalone Wonder Woman movie within the DC Universe has been gaining a lot of traction over the last year.
The Wonder Woman franchise has come a long way. It started with only a related prequel series, Paradise Lost, but now a Wonder Woman movie is officially in development with Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira signed on to write it.
Given how important Wonder Woman is to the studio, it’s smart to start building the foundation for her own movie within the Superman: Man of Tomorrow film. Plus, her strong, athletic physique and warrior spirit fit her character perfectly.
Since news about the casting choices started circulating, fans have also suggested Batgirl, Black Canary, Power Girl, and Green Lantern Jessica Cruz as possibilities. These heroes all match the general description of the role, though they may not have quite the same level of established importance as Wonder Woman.
