Supergirl Gets Last-Minute Creative Shakeup Just 3 Months Before Release

As a big fan, I was surprised to see that Junkie XL is no longer composing the music for the new DC movie! It seems Warner Bros. has moved on to their third composer for the film, and fans like me noticed the change in a recent press release. It’s a little disappointing, as I really liked what Junkie XL brought to the table, but I’m still excited to see who they bring on board next!

Saudie Sarne is now credited as the composer for Supergirl, becoming the third person to hold that position, following Junkie XL and Ramin Djawadi.

The new Supergirl movie is based on the 2022 comic book Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King. It tells the story of 21-year-old Kara Zor-El, who journeys across the galaxy with her dog, Krypto, and teams up with a girl named Ruthye. Together, they embark on a dangerous mission driven by a desire for revenge. Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay for the film.

Milly Alcock stars as Supergirl in the upcoming film. The cast also includes Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Supergirl’s father, Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as her mother, Alura In-Ze. Matthias Schoenaerts will play the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills.

I’m so excited! Jason Momoa, who I loved as Aquaman, is going to be playing Lobo! He’s taking on the role of this alien bounty hunter, and honestly, I can’t think of anyone better suited for it.

Supergirl is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, as the second film set in the DCU.
