Supergirl: 2nd Villain Revealed for DCU Movie

I’m really excited about the upcoming Supergirl movie, and we just got a peek at another villain! It’s great to see Milly Alcock taking on the role of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s Kryptonian cousin. It sounds like things are really shaping up for this one!

Who is playing the second villain in Supergirl?

Diarmaid Murtagh has been cast as Drom Baxton, the second-in-command to the main villain in Supergirl, Krem, who will be played by Matthias Schoenaerts, according to Deadline. Drom and Krem are described as dangerous space pirates who also traffic humans.

Murtagh is an actor most recognized for his roles as Leif in Vikings, William “Buck” MacKenzie in Outlander, and Donal McDonnell in The Tourist.

The new Supergirl series draws inspiration from the comic book ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ created by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Milly Alcock returns as Kara Zor-El, having previously appeared in the 2025 film ‘Superman’.

Supergirl, whose real name is Kara Zor-El, is forced to team up with a surprising ally when a dangerous enemy attacks those she cares about. Together, they embark on a massive journey across the stars to seek both revenge and justice.

The cast of Supergirl includes Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, and Jason Momoa as Lobo. David Corenswet will return as Clark Kent/Superman.

Craig Gillespie, the director of films like ‘Dumb Money’ (2023) and ‘Cruella’ (2021), is directing the new ‘Supergirl’ movie. The screenplay was written by Ana Nogueira, and James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing.

Following the success of last summer’s Superman, Supergirl is the second film in the new DC Universe. This year will see two DCU movies released, with Supergirl being the first and Clayface coming later. Clayface, a horror film starring Tom Rhys Harries as the villain, is scheduled to be released on September 11, 2026.

Supergirl is one of the first films in the new DC Universe, part of a series called ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.’ After Supergirl and Clayface, the only other movie currently planned from this first chapter is ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ which is the second installment in the Superman story. ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is set to be released on July 9, 2027.

Supergirl soars into theaters on June 26, 2026.
