“Superb” ‘00s movie Bend It Like Beckham set for new UK streaming home ahead of sequel

The beloved movie “Bend It Like Beckham,” originally released in the ’00s, is preparing to find a new streaming platform in the UK before the release of its upcoming sequel.

Introduced in 2002, the film titled “Bend It Like Beckham” features “ER” actor Parminder Nagra portraying a young character who defies her family’s expectations by joining a local football club.

16-year-old Jess yearns to play soccer, but her family believes it’s inappropriate for an Indian girl of her age to do so on the playing field.

The film “Bend It Like Beckham” boasts an impressive 85% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 157 reviews. Critics have singled out the lead actors for praise, and also commended Gurinder Chadha’s directorial skills.

According to Common Sense Media, this movie tells an exceptional story about a girl’s fight for her aspirations. In contrast, The Los Angeles Times deemed it as an intelligent, vivacious, and ultimately heartwarming comedic drama.
