Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment hinted at four exciting locations from the *Mario Galaxy* games in the first image released for the *Super Mario Galaxy Movie*. The sequel to *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*, planned for 2026, will send Chris Pratt’s Mario on an interstellar adventure, drawing inspiration from the popular *Galaxy* series of Mario games.
Illumination CEO Christopher Meledandri announced that the new Mario movie will include references and surprises for fans of all the different Mario games. However, he also emphasized that the *Super Mario Galaxy* games were the biggest influence on the movie’s story. This suggests we’ll see elements from *Super Mario Galaxy* and *Super Mario Galaxy 2* – like certain characters and locations – brought to life on the big screen. So far, though, the only glimpse we’ve gotten is a very short and simple teaser trailer.
Fans have discovered hidden references to the *Mario Galaxy* game within the reveal trailer for the *Super Mario Bros. Movie*! Online sleuths (as reported by X user Stealth40K) noticed four iconic worlds from *Super Mario Galaxy* cleverly concealed within the movie’s logo.

The logos for the *Mario Galaxy* games showed the night sky inside the letters. But the movie’s logo is different – it’s packed with levels from the *Galaxy* games, all hidden behind a beautiful purple and pink color blend.
Get ready for more Mario magic! The sequel to the blockbuster hit *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*, titled *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie*, is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026. This time, Mario and his friends are heading into space for a brand-new, out-of-this-world adventure. So far, Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson are confirmed to return as their beloved characters.
Every World Featured in the Mario Galaxy Movie Logo
Gateway Galaxy

Gateway Galaxy is Mario’s starting point in the original *Super Mario Galaxy*. It’s a peaceful collection of small, planet-like islands filled with cute, star-powered bunnies. It feels similar to the familiar Mushroom Kingdom, but takes place in space.
The game culminates in a huge boss fight against a giant Goomba. Unlike the regular Goombas Mario is used to, he can’t just jump on its head – he has to flip it over and then stomp on it to win.

The famous first planet from Galaxy appears right in the middle of the “X” in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie logo.
Honeyhive Galaxy

Fans of the original *Galaxy* game will remember Honeyhive Galaxy, a vibrant location with huge trees and beautiful waterfalls. You can actually spot these features in the movie’s logo – look along the bottom of the letters “L” and “A”!
The Honeyhive Galaxy is home to mostly talking bees. It’s here that Mario discovers the Bee Mario power-up, letting him briefly float upwards.

In Honeyhive, Mario’s main job is to help the Queen Bee, who leads the galaxy, by defeating Bowser’s troops that have invaded her home.
Gusty Garden Galaxy

The first *Mario Movie* gave fans a hint of the Gusty Garden Galaxy by including its famous music in the end credits, possibly suggesting where the next movie might take place.
Fans will finally see an authentic adaptation in *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*. The distinctive, scattered shapes of Gusty Garden Galaxy are cleverly incorporated into the “Y” shape of the film’s logo. Illumination has directly taken inspiration from the iconic question mark cloud formations found throughout the galaxy in the original game.

Gusty Garden is a world made up of many small, flower-covered planets. Bright, colorful plants grow everywhere, covering most of the land.
Bowser’s Airship

Ever since the release of *Super Mario Bros. 3* in 1988, Bowser, the main villain in the Mario games, has been known for his army of airships. Though these airships weren’t in the first *Super Mario* movie, they appear to be included in the upcoming second film.
A level from the *Super Mario Galaxy* game, featuring Bowser’s Airships, is cleverly hidden within the title of the *Galaxy Movie*. This suggests that Bowser’s flying ships will appear in the upcoming 2026 sequel.

In the *Galaxy* game, Mario fights Bowser Jr. during a challenging boss battle on Bowser’s Airship. Bowser Jr. leads a fleet of spaceships in the game, which suggests he might also appear in the new movie.
