Super Mario Bros Movie sequel confirms official title and returning cast with magical first teaser

The sequel to “The Super Mario Bros Movie” has been officially announced, revealing its title, as well as the return of the original cast. A teaser trailer for the upcoming film was also unveiled.

The sequel to the highly successful Nintendo game adaptation will be titled “Super Mario Galaxy Film,” paying homage to the popular 2007 Wii game.

Today during Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the title is now revealed, along with the return of Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

In the year 2023, the initial “Super Mario Bros” film was unveiled to the public and proved to be a massive success at the box office. Its earnings amounting to $1.36 billion placed it as the second highest-grossing film of that year, and notably, it also secured the title for being the most financially successful video game movie ever made.

Nevertheless, it turned out to be a more diverse reception among critics, earning a 59% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Digital Spy described it as an “Easter egg-filled delight for fans,” yet some casual viewers might find themselves puzzled by the excitement.

In early 2024, it was officially announced that the next installment would be released, and the original directors, Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, would once again take the lead for this upcoming sequel.
