Super Hans actor Matt King launches into furious tirade at fans for posting ‘f***ing Peep Show quotes’ on his Instagram and threatens to block them

It appears that actor Matt King, known for his role in Peep Show, doesn’t seem to be a huge admirer of the famous series, as he expressed frustration towards fans who shared his character’s lines on his Instagram account.

Matt was the one who played the unpredictable yet endearing character, Super Hans, for the entire duration of the series, which aired from 2003 to 2015.

Matt appears to have a strained relationship with the show, as he has threatened to block his followers for mentioning it on his page.

Matt recently posted an update, where he revealed a morning selfie following a stroll at 5 am. Afterward, he returned home to enjoy a cup of ‘coffee with mushrooms’.

Good morning everyone! I didn’t sleep well last night, so I went for a walk at 5 am instead. I made myself a couple of cups of mushroom coffee when I got back and now I feel like I could go for about forty minutes before calling it a day. Remember, it’s okay to give up when things get tough. A person proposed that he take a “calming break” to unwind, alluding to one of his well-known phrases from the series, and Matt didn’t seem very pleased about it.

In response to your comment, I found it inappropriate to use quotations from “Peep Show” in this context. To avoid any further misunderstandings, I’ll have to block you, I’m afraid.

When someone asked ‘do you not like it?’, and Matt fired back: ‘What do you think?’

As more fans kept posting additional famous quotes, Matt ceased interacting with them, clearly indicating that he found their comments unwelcome.

In another part of the post, Matt cautioned others that they only had one chance left after they too posted various quotes from Peep Show on his timeline.

One person playfully teased Super Hans for running into Windsor by mistake, while another made light of his “crazy about olives” remark, which resulted in both receiving a reprimand from Matt.

When someone else in the comments mentioned his comment about “no logo on the foam”, he responded by suggesting they should “move on” or “forget about it”.

Matt is well-known for portraying the character Super Hans in a TV series co-created by Andrew O’Connor, Jesse Armstrong, and Sam Bain. He shared screen time with comedic pair David Mitchell and Robert Webb in this production.

The series chronicled the lives of the disturbingly familiar roommates Mark and Jez, portrayed by David and Robert, through an innovative first-person cinematography approach.

The two pals are quite different individuals who crossed paths at the imagined Dartmouth University and later shared a living space in Mark’s apartment, located within the fictional Zodiac House in South London.

Mark is the property owner and often points out Jeremy’s unwillingness to pay rent and disrespectful behavior towards the house, which he attributes to Jeremy’s heavy marijuana use and refusal to find employment.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but acknowledge that Super Hans was an adored figure, renowned for his side-splittingly absurd and drug-infused quips, as well as his chaotic actions.

Prior to securing his acting role, Matt had previously worked as a chef in Australia. It was during this time that he crossed paths with comedian Jimeoin McKeown, who inspired him to take up stand-up comedy.

Following 15 years in the comedy scene, he was spotted by the creators of Peep Show during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and were impressed enough to believe he would be an ideal fit for the character of Super Hans.

Initially, the role was intended for Danny Dyer as Sam, the creator, had stated back in 2018.

Matt’s breakthrough performance catapulted him into stardom, eventually securing roles in Skins, Doctor Who, Spirited, Paddington, The End of the Fing World, and even creating his own sitcom, Whites, featuring Alan Davies.

2019 saw him appear in the music video for Sam Fender’s hit single “Saturday,” where he showcased a creative dance performance.

As much as I’m widely known for my role in Peep Show, Matt candidly admitted that he frequently struggles to recall numerous iconic lines from the series, which fans often associate with me.

In 2023, he surprised his followers when he admitted on Twitter that he hadn’t seen the highly-praised TV series yet.

He stated: ‘Indeed, I often fail to recall things that Hans mentioned on Peep Show. This is because I have never taken the time to watch a single episode throughout my life.’

Primarily because I dislike seeing myself, some humorous things I said around two decades ago might occasionally escape my memory.

Instead of teasing Super Hans about his popular quip, “That crack is really more-ish,” he instead used the following hashtag: “#ThisStuffIsHardlyResistible”.

Here’s my attempt:

Last year, Matt playfully hinted at the possibility of a Peep Show reunion, fueling our fervent hopes. This came about when fans, including myself, clamored for a cast reunion, inspired by the news of Noel and Liam Gallagher’s Oasis reunion tour and the viral meme that followed. I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect!

Matt reposted the picture of the brothers, along with one featuring him with David and Robert. The caption read: ‘The reunion as it turned out versus the reunion we had hoped for.’

He shared with me a meme his friend sent from Australia. Normally, I don’t find memes amusing, but this one brought a grin to my face. To be honest, Dave, Rob, and I might actually consider it if we were to share £80 million.

After that, Matt spoke about the significant criticism Oasis received when their ticket prices increased significantly due to high demand, causing some people to advocate for a ban on “dynamic pricing” for concerts and shows.

He added: ‘But then again, I wouldn’t stitch up my own fans like that. Swings and roundabouts. MK’.

Fans commented on Matt’s post, urging him to initiate plans for a Peep Show reunion.

Here’s a special episode just in time for Christmas to quench your thirst.”

“I would gladly pay varying prices for the Ed Dude brothers and Super Hans.

‘We need this reunion, on a massive scale, just to obliterate Coldplay.’

1. ‘They put on a spectacle, yet they’re burdened with children and financial struggles.’

2. ‘Please don’t toy with our emotions like this. It’s the gathering we long for, but one we might not truly be worthy of.’

After the show concluded, David and Robert, who became friends at Cambridge University in 1993, have since thrived as a duo. Regrettably, Robert encountered health issues close to his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, ultimately leading to an early exit from the competition.

Since the ending, many stars have experienced comparable success, with Olivia Colman, the actress known for her role as Sophie Chapman, being one of the most notable examples. In 2019, she was awarded an Oscar.

Spotlight once again shines on Sophie Winkleman, known for her role as Big Suze, now part of the British royal family.
