Who will be playing in the Super Bowl?

The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots are facing off in Super Bowl LX, a rematch of their Super Bowl XLIX (49) game from the 2014 season. The Patriots won that previous meeting, 28-24.

Wow, what a game! As a critic, I have to say the Patriots really impressed me. They’re heading to the Super Bowl for the first time since the departures of both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, and they earned it with a hard-fought 10-7 victory over the Broncos in the AFC Championship. It’s a new era for the team, and they’re proving they can still compete at the highest level.

The Seahawks are heading to the Super Bowl for the first time in nearly a decade, last appearing in 2014 and 2015. They earned their spot by defeating the Rams 31-27 in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.

What time does the Super Bowl start?

As a huge football fan, I’ve already marked my calendar! Super Bowl LX is happening on February 8th, kicking off around 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time, though the actual game usually gets underway closer to 3:40. Of course, there’s always a lot leading up to the kickoff – the national anthem, player introductions, and all the pre-game festivities – so things will be happening well before 3:30.

Bad Bunny will headline Super Bowl 2026 halftime show

Three-time Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny will headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

Bad Bunny will be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show for the second time. He previously appeared as a guest during Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s performance in 2020.

I was really moved by Bad Bunny’s recent comments – it wasn’t just about him. He explained that any success he’s having feels bigger than himself, a way to honor those who paved the way before him. He specifically said it’s about representing his people, his culture, and acknowledging their history, and that really resonated with me. It felt like a powerful statement about legacy and pride.

Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, will produce the Super Bowl halftime show for another year. They’ve been working with the NFL on these shows since 2019.

While Super Bowl halftime shows usually feature guest performers, neither Roc Nation nor the NFL has announced anyone for this year’s show yet.

Who will sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl?

Charlie Puth will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the start of Super Bowl LX.

Charlie Puth first gained attention by posting popular cover songs on YouTube. He recently told Rolling Stone that he landed the opportunity to sing the national anthem after sending a recording to Roc Nation.

Brandi Carlile, a celebrated musician with eleven Grammy Awards, will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones, also a Grammy winner, will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” prior to the game.

What are the overtime rules for NFL playoff games?

The NFL’s current overtime rules for the playoffs were mostly established in 2010. Last year, the league made a change to ensure both teams get a chance with the ball before the game ends.

The rule change happened after people began to question the fairness of the playoff overtime system. This followed a close game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills in January 2022. Before the new rule, the team that got the ball first won the vast majority of playoff games that went into overtime – 10 out of 11, to be exact – after changes were made to the overtime rules in 2010.

Here’s a breakdown of the playoff overtime rules:

  • A coin flip determines which team receives the opening kickoff.
  • Each team will have the opportunity to possess the ball at least once before a winner is determined.
  • Teams play 15-minute periods until there’s a winner.
  • If the score is tied after each team’s first possession, the next score by either team (touchdown, field goal or safety) will win the game.
  • There are no coach challenges, with all reviews being initiated by the replay official.
  • Each team gets three timeouts per half (two overtime periods).
  • If there is no winner after the fourth overtime period, there will be another coin toss before play resumes.
