Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac’s new look savaged by fans as beloved Channel Seven star returns to screens: ‘It’s horrid’
Sam Mac has left fans divided after retuning to Sunrise with a new look.
On Monday, for the first time since his paternity break in May, our favorite meteorologist, aged 43, graced the screen of the Channel Seven morning program.
As a devoted companion to Margot (age 2) and Mabel (ten months), engaged to the wonderful Rebecca James, I recently returned from a break from my TV role and proudly sport a new beard I grew during my absence.
As I prepared for my much-anticipated comeback, I shared a sneak peek of my fresh new facial look on Instagram over the weekend. I playfully hinted to my followers that if this image received an impressive number of ‘likes’, I would continue sporting this style.
If this picture garners 10,000 likes, I’ll grow my beard again when I come back to @sunriseon7 on Monday, using the hashtag #DadLeaveBeard. This is him, cradling our freshly born baby.

Despite not receiving enough ‘likes’ on his Instagram photo prior to the broadcast, Sam’s Facebook post was popular, which ultimately led to him resuming his weatherman job sporting a beard.
However, it seems many fans were actually not too pleased with the dad-of-two’s new look.
It’s great to have Sam Mac back, demonstrating once again why he’s tops in weather broadcasting. His new beard certainly adds a unique touch!
Another chimed in: ‘It’s horrid. Most guys with beards, at least, tidy up their throat area.’
One individual expressed strong disapproval about a post on Instagram, saying: “I’m really not fond of Sam’s beard at all. I wonder what Bec thinks about it?
Amid differing views about the weatherman’s beard, there was a consensus: Fans were eagerly anticipating his return to television screens.
It’s wonderful that you’ll return tomorrow, as you were greatly missed, with or without a beard, someone kindly commented on your latest Instagram video.

In May, the TV weatherman took to Instagram to share that he would be going on leave.
Sharing a photo featuring baby Mabel, the father expressed his joy about spending precious moments with his little kids.
Sam, who became a father again last August, labeled this as his ‘Paternity Leave’ in his recent post.
I’m overjoyed to finally spend some undisturbed moments with dear Mabel! It reminds me of the excitement I felt when Margot was an infant, and I cherish the memories of being present as she made her initial steps.
He mentioned that spending more time with her while she’s still a toddler is an extra advantage, though it can be a bit daunting too.
