Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac shares heartwarming tribute to wife and newborn after welcoming second child

42-year-old television personality from Channel Seven wrote an extended poem for his expanding household following the birth of their second child, a daughter named Mabel, whom they welcomed together with Bec on Thursday.
On Friday, Sam posted on Instagram a heartfelt moment captured as Rebecca was breastfeeding their latest family member, expressing it as: ‘Here’s my beautiful Rebecca, only moments after welcoming our newborn into the world.’
Since my daughters are sound asleep, I found myself with some spare moments to reflect and truly appreciate my good fortune. This brief writing serves as a tribute to Rebecca and all the remarkable mothers out there. Your selfless love and dedication are invaluable, and our lives would be empty without you.
Dear Mabel,
As a nurse with over two decades of experience, I have witnessed many heart-wrenching moments at the bedside. One memory that stands out is the day I assisted during a procedure for an elderly woman who was very close to my heart – her daughter. Seeing her lie there, being examined, poked, and prodded, brought a wave of emotion over me. The sight of the various tools, the beeping machines, and the sterile environment only added to the tension in the air.
‘She gripped my hand as it went on & on. Your Mother was calm, your Mother was strong.
‘Your Mother stopped talking, words left unsaid. Your Mother surrendered on that hospital bed.’
Sam explained, sharing his viewpoint, “She gave up control of her body; it was a necessary step for her. Just as your mother did this, we were able to welcome you into our lives.”
‘Pushing & breathing with extended sighs. Your Mother began to speak with her eyes.
‘Her eyes spoke of pain, her eyes spoke of love. Her eyes said we’d waited long enough.
‘There you were, our sweet baby girl. The tiniest cry & you’d entered the world.
‘You were perfection, it was love at first sight. But I want you to know what happened that night.
‘Now & forever, we’ll care for each other. I just need you to know the strength of your Mother.’
On Thursday, the TV celebrity shared delightful baby news on Instagram, posting an affectionate photo holding their newborn, whom they named Mabel August McMillan.
Sam welcomed their daughter on Wednesday evening after announcing Rebecca’s pregnancy in February.
His announcement received an overwhelming number of likes, warm messages, and congratulations from friends, relatives, and supporters.
His Channel Seven colleague, Edwine Bartholomew, commented, “Each of you appears strikingly well-rested. Savor this lovely moment x.”
‘What a brilliant thing! Love the name. Congrats to all xx xxxxx,’ radio host Amanda Keller said.

In February, Sam and Rebecca shared that they were going to have a baby, however, they chose not to disclose the baby’s gender.
Excitedly sharing the update, I can’t help but express my delight! The long-awaited “Baby Mac 2” is set to debut in August 2024. Our beloved character, Margot, will grace our screens once more, stepping into the role of the big sister – a reprisal that feels just right, reminiscent of the classic #MacDaddy saga, but with a fresh twist for #Round2.
Sam announced in December 2023 that the couple were tying the knot.
At that moment, Sam announced the happy news on Instagram, accompanied by a picture showing Rebecca’s sparkling engagement ring.
In a brief summary of the proposal, the writer noted in the “My beloved audience, my future wife! She agreed to marry me.”
My hidden promise for the New Year 2023 was to pop the question to my beloved Rebecca at some point during the year. In other words, I made a last-second shot at it. So, if I may borrow a term, this could be referred to as a ‘buzzer beater’.

In September 2022, two years into their relationship, Sam and Rebecca joyfully became parents to their newborn daughter, Margot.
Initially sharing my elated feelings, Sam penned: ‘I’ve discovered a love I hadn’t realized was possible. I’m currently in a state of amazement, trying to comprehend it all. My precious daughters! Incredible!’
In December, Sam made a comeback on television following a month’s absence due to dedicating himself fully to being a dad off-screen.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to share that a month ago, our trusted presenter temporarily stepped back from his on-screen roles, taking time off for paternity leave.
Sam chose to enable his styling collaborator, Rebecca, to resume her job duties for the first time since she had given birth a year ago.
I can’t help but gush over this! When I shared with Sunrise that I needed a break for my beloved family, they were nothing short of amazingly supportive. I’m beyond thankful for their understanding and generosity in giving me this precious time off. Simply incredible!
I’ve been concerned that I might become a parent who is so focused on work that I miss out on fully enjoying my child’s important moments and milestones.
Sam confessed that he deeply enjoys his work, yet finds himself frequently absent at home. He’s started noticing aspects of Margot’s growth that he’s missing out on.
