SumaiL steps in for Falcons at DreamLeague S25 as Malr1ne sorts visa issues

This is the second time SumaiL has subbed for Malr1ne and Falcons.

Due to the unexpected departure of Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak from Team Falcons, Dota 2 sensation Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan will step in and participate in DreamLeague Season 25 next week.

Although it’s not a long-term relocation, there seems to be some visa issues for the Russian mid laner attending ESL One Raleigh. This tournament is crucial for Falcons since we’re heading towards the mid-year and approaching this season’s The International.

Falcons enter DreamLeague second stage with SumaiL

On February 19th, it was announced by Falcons that SumaiL will temporarily take over the position for the team during DreamLeague Season 25, as he will continue to be a part of the squad until this tournament concludes, with play resuming this coming Friday.

Malr1ne is setting off to apply for a U.S. visa before ESL One Raleigh in early April. Given the timeline of the event, it was important that the visa application process not be delayed for the Russian mid laner. The team Falcons expressed their gratitude towards Malr1ne’s dedication to making sure all preparations are complete in time for the upcoming tournament.

Malr1ne is temporarily leaving to sort out his U.S. visa matters before ESL One Raleigh, an important tournament for our team,” the organization announced in a statement on February 19th. This isn’t the first time SumaiL has filled in for Malr1ne with the Falcons; at ESL One Birmingham 2024, he stood in temporarily while Malr1ne returned to the roster later during their journey to the trophy.

SumaiL is now able to sign up with the Falcons team for DreamLeague, since Nigma Galaxy failed to secure a spot. The predominantly CIS team, Chimera Esports, defeated Nigma with a score of 3-1 in the Middle East & Southwest Asia qualifier.

The second phase of DreamLeague S25‘s group stage commences this Friday, offering fans and players a debut glimpse into patch 7.38, which was released on February 18 and brings significant alterations to the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) as we currently understand it.

Prior to that point, it’s undecided which team will secure the last position in Group B, as Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, and Yakult Brothers are all fighting for a place in the subsequent phase of the competition.
