Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Studio Reportedly Suffers Fresh Round of Layoffs
2021 hasn’t begun well for Rocksteady Studios, the developers behind “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” as they’ve allegedly undergone another wave of layoffs, following news in September that several employees, including over half of their quality assurance staff, were terminated.
Approximately a dozen former employees were reportedly let go, as mentioned by Eurogamer, with these cuts taking place towards the end of 2024. The affected roles included programmers, artists, and more quality assurance staff. It’s speculated that the underperformance of their Suicide Squad game might be the cause, given numerous players voicing discontent over the game’s live service aspect.
Despite some challenges, Rocksteady Studios has managed to navigate through the past year with four seasons and numerous updates for the game “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League“, including the recently launched Season 4, featuring Deathstroke and an offline mode. However, it seems that this will be the final season, leaving us hoping that Rocksteady may return to a project centered entirely around Batman in the future.
The game “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” was released last February, and it looks like we’ll be marking its first anniversary soon. However, it resulted in a disappointing financial loss of approximately $200 million for its parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.
