Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League DLC starts un-killing its heroes
As a dedicated gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of controversial twists and turns in video games. But nothing quite prepared me for the events unfolding in Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
In an intriguing turn of events, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” generated buzz and sparked debate due to its innovative concept. Your mission as part of Task Force X was to eliminate the members of the Justice League who had been manipulated by Brainiac. Throughout the game, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Superman met their demises at the hands of the Suicide Squad. Some fan reactions were unfavorable towards these deaths.
After two seasons following the launch of “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” gamers now face a new challenge: reversing some of the deaths that have occurred – to an extent.
On July 25, Rocksteady Studios introduced a new playable character named Mrs. Freeze (Victoria Frias) and added new story elements to “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.” This marked the beginning of bringing the Justice League back together in the game’s second season. Amanda Waller, leader of Task Force X, recruited Mrs. Freeze from an alternate Metropolis to retrieve the Flash as part of a plan to discover a cure for Brainiac’s infection. Task Force X traveled to this world to defeat its Brainiac, which led to the discovery that its Flash was still alive and was brought back to the main game reality.
From there, the Flash is basically put into a stasis pod, not to be heard from again.
It seems that this occasion marks the beginning of reversing some significant deaths of superheroes in “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.” At Task Force X Headquarters, there are vacant stasis pods for the remaining Justice League members. Based on insider information about Rocksteady’s intentions, it is indicated that at least two heroes will rejoin the main Arkhamverse.
Rocksteady intends to produce two additional seasons of “Kill the Justice League” with new playable characters Lawless (previously known as Zoe Lawton, Deadshot’s daughter) and Deathstroke allegedly joining Task Force X next. Based on unverified rumors from the game’s intended narrative, these seasons may reintroduce Green Lantern and Batman. These versions of the heroes will reportedly be Elseworlds takes, meaning they’ll differ slightly from their original Arkhamverse counterparts, who are said to remain deceased.
As someone who has been an avid fan of DC Comics and their superhero stories for decades, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment and uncertainty as I ponder over the fate of Wonder Woman and Superman in Rocksteady’s “Kill the Justice League” DLC. Their untimely demises during the game have left me with many unanswered questions.
I’m thrilled to share that “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” can now be played on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Not too long ago, Warner Bros. and Amazon surprised us Prime members with a free PC copy of the game as part of their Prime Day celebrations through Prime Gaming. What an amazing perk for fans like me!
