Sugababes take a brutal swipe at former bandmates as they say the OG members will always be ‘the essence’ of the group
As a longtime fan of the Sugababes, I must say it’s been a rollercoaster ride watching them evolve over the years. From their humble beginnings to their latest reunion, it’s clear that their music and performances have brought immense joy to countless fans like myself.
Sugababes’ original trio have taken a brutal swipe at their former band members.
Keisha Buchanan, 40, Mutya Buena, 39, and Siobhan Donaghy, 40, formed the iconic girl band in 1998.
After Siobhan departed in 2001, there were numerous changes within the group. Heidi Range took over her position, while Mutya and Keisha eventually left and were replaced by Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen during the mid-2000s.
On Thursday, the original members of the group graced Will Manning’s Capital Breakfast program. They reminisced about their journey together, expressing their belief that they are, and forever will be, the finest representation and true spirit of the group.
Will inquired, “Of the different iterations you’ve been a part of, which version of the Sugababes do you consider to be the most exceptional?
Mutya quipped: ‘The first one!’
In essence, Siobhan expressed that they began this venture back when they were adolescents, and Mutya affirmed, calling it their creation or project.
Siobhan added: “I believe that a piece of the Sugababes will forever hold a special significance for us. It’s because that’s where it all began, and it embodies the very core of what they represent.
‘It makes sense,’ Will replied.
Following the announcement by the girl band that they plan to embark on their largest-ever UK and European tour in spring 2025, performances are scheduled in places like London, Birmingham, and Cardiff.
In the year 2019, the founding members returned and have since then filled The O2 arena, caused Glastonbury stages to close temporarily because of high demand, and put on a show for massive crowds at various European concerts, setting new attendance records.
In a shared announcement, the musicians from Push The Button expressed their enthusiasm about unveiling our largest-ever UK and European concert tour.
Over the past few years, we’ve had a fantastic time, and we’re eagerly anticipating traveling together in the spring! Hold onto your seats because what we have planned is going to be amazing. Tickets will go on sale starting at 10AM UK/11AM CET this coming Friday, 25th October.
On Wednesday, October 23, the initial pre-sales for Co-op Live and 02 Priority occurred, and then another pre-sale by Live Nation took place on Thursday, October 24.
General sale took place at 10am on Friday, October 25 and can still be purchased via Ticketmaster.
Back in the early part of this year, there were concerns among Sugababes that their Glastonbury show might not attract an audience, given its immense popularity and the need for security personnel to halt ticket sales due to overwhelming fan interest.
On “This Morning,” the musicians behind the hit song “About You Now” shared that they felt quite anxious before their upcoming performance.
Keisha mentioned that they often feel incredibly anxious, particularly before going on stage, as they wonder if anyone will attend their performance.
‘But it was really nice. We had the best time. It doesn’t get old for us. We are so grateful.
“The response we’ve received so far has been nothing short of amazing, and we appreciate every bit of it. Immediately after our performance, we hopped on a plane and headed straight to Marrakech.
The band appeared on stage at Glastonbury only after the sheer number of people eagerly waiting to watch them caused security to halt admissions due to overcrowding.
At the West Holts stage, designed to accommodate 35,000 spectators, they implemented a ‘let-in’ strategy to prevent overcrowding and potential stampedes while the crowd poured in to witness the band’s performance.
In 2022, an English girl band took the stage at Glastonbury, performing on the smaller Avalon Stage that can accommodate around 3,000 spectators. However, the authorities limited access to the concert out of safety considerations to prevent excessive crowds from gathering.
