As a heartbroken fan who has followed Wynne Evans’ journey through thick and thin, I am absolutely thrilled to see him finding love again after his darkest hours. His resilience and courage to overcome his struggles with depression and loneliness are truly inspiring.

After the end of his 16-year marriage, which nearly led him to consider suicide, broadcaster Wynne Evans from Strictly has discovered newfound love once more.

52-year-old opera singer, participating in this season’s Strictly Come Dancing, has been in a romantic relationship with event manager Liz Brookes, aged 50, for several months now.

Earlier, it was disclosed that Wynne encountered a very low point during his bouts with depression, which originated from the separation from Tanwen, his wife and mother of their two kids, in the year 2016.

However, Wynne is currently dating Liz, a health enthusiast, who reportedly assisted him in shedding pounds before Strictly.

According to a source, Wynne and Liz first encountered each other at a gathering, and they’re proceeding cautiously in their relationship. However, Wynne is enthusiastic about its potential future development.

He’s found himself in a significantly improved state since his marriage concluded. It’s as if day has turned into night, yet he’s brimming with joy.

Behind the scenes, Wynne had been grappling with his mental well-being, enduring long periods of depression and solitude for quite some time. Eventually, he decided to share his struggles publicly, hoping to offer support and encouragement to others facing similar challenges.

To mark the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, Wynne told BBC Radio Wales of the split: ‘It was almost like grief, but you can’t grieve for somebody that’s still there.

Indeed, it had a profound impact on my psychological well-being, self-assurance, and self-image – transforming me significantly as an individual.

As a lifestyle expert reflecting on personal experiences, let me share an insight: My solitude became strikingly apparent, and despite my relatively young age of 46, an unreasonable apprehension of lone mortality surfaced within me. Dark thoughts and days filled with melancholy would consume me, as I pondered the most dismal scenarios imaginable.

It seems clear to me what I’m implying, but I hesitated to express it as some people might find it uncomfortable. Now, however, I’m open to discussing it. At an earlier point, though, there was nothing that could have helped me. I came to a point where I felt my life should end, and I made some reckless decisions.

Wynne mentioned that, when he recognized the need for assistance, he scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist and started using medication.

Additionally, he mentioned that taking in fresh air and getting regular physical activity helps him manage his depression, yet he was quick to point out that what works for him might not be effective for everyone else.

During an interview on This Morning last April, Wynne expressed that she had always been overweight and felt the need to take action by saying, “It was time for a change.

‘I found it challenging to wash and climb stairs due to my circumstances. Over the past five to six years, my mental well-being has taken a hit, but I’ve managed to cope better with these difficulties.’

During a challenging period, the father of two shared that despite this, he carried on broadcasting on the radio: ‘My radio show’s tagline is “lifting up Wales by one o’clock,” yet I was battling through the deepest bouts of clinical depression.’

I’ve often contemplated the idea, attempted to find a solution… But I saw no escape route; I couldn’t imagine finding joy again.

During a conversation with Mind, the mental health organization, he shared that while his resume boasted a successful career – holding a good job, being on the radio daily, and working for GoCompare – there were unspoken challenges hidden beneath.

‘But the reality was very different, I felt alone, I could feel alone in a room full of people.’

Additionally, he suggested simple strategies for those finding it tough, emphasizing that small actions can make a big difference. For instance, reaching out by calling someone or stopping by to ask how they’re doing might seem insignificant, but it carries immense importance.
