Strictly's Will Bayley claims he was left unable to walk for six months after injuring himself on the scandal-hit show as he calls upon BBC bosses to apologise and says huge changes need to be made

As a seasoned journalist with years of experience under my belt, I’ve covered a multitude of stories and witnessed firsthand the complexities and nuances that come with reporting on controversial issues. In the case of Strictly Come Dancing and the allegations of abusive behavior towards celebrities by their professional partners, it’s disheartening to see yet another instance of power dynamics being exploited in a public setting.

Former “Strictly Come Dancing” contestant Will Bayley revealed that he was unable to walk for half a year following his injury during the show, and he requested an apology from the BBC over his controversial participation in the scandalous production.

On Mondays, the 36-year-old Paralympic table tennis player and his professional partner, Janette Manrara, had an argument during which she allegedly made him repeat a jump that resulted in his longstanding injury. This is the latest controversy for the severely damaged “Strictly Come Dancing” show.

During studio rehearsals, the sound of Janette’s criticism of his first jump from the table as “rubbish” made Will wince and reluctantly withdraw, as he felt his leg snap back on his second attempt.

In my recent interview on This Morning, I shared more about the experience that left me feeling traumatized. After the show, I felt compelled to reach out to the BBC with my concerns, but unfortunately, I was made to believe that I was exaggerating the issue unnecessarily.

He similarly advocated for significant transformations within the program and improved accommodations for individuals with disabilities. It would have been deeply impactful if an apology or acknowledgment of accountability had been expressed back then.

On Tuesday, Tim Davie, the head of BBC, expressed sincere apologies for the ongoing scandal. He sympathized with those who had a less-than-ideal experience on “Strictly” and were left feeling disappointed.

From birth, Arthrogryposis limited the flexibility of Will’s joints, resulting in him completing the move with straight legs.

On Mondays, Janette finally spoke up following the allegations against her. A representative of the BBC confirmed that no one had lodged any complaints about Janette’s teaching techniques in the past.

On This Morning on Tuesday, Will shared that he endured a challenging mental experience as he couldn’t walk for a span of six months. During this period, his family provided support.

A more natural and clear way of expressing this thought could be: “Let’s focus on finding ways to help and include individuals with disabilities in our community. Some may label this as ‘woke,’ but it’s essential that we prioritize their needs and rights.”

‘I am grateful that they covered my surgery but there wasn’t much communication afterwards.

As a passionate supporter and long-time advocate, I’ve been expressing my views on this topic for years now. It’s exhilarating to finally see others jumping on board with me, but rest assured, my commitment didn’t waver because of the recent surge in interest.

‘Some kind of responsibility or sorry would have been amazing to hear.

Some viewers of “Strictly Come Dancing” have expressed surprise at my statement. I’ve faced greater challenges before, so I can handle criticisms. In my opinion, the situation could have been prevented with more attention given to it.

He made it clear that he held Janette, his professional partner, completely blameless for the incident.

Janette was incredibly encouraging, according to Will. Our competitive natures drove us both to strive for victory. Her professionalism was commendable, and her talent is undeniable.

I had the pleasure of being a guest on BBC Breakfast earlier this week. During my conversation with Jon Kay and Sally Nugent, I emphasized the importance of making necessary adjustments and held onto the belief that valuable insights would emerge from the experience.

He also shared that he suffers from ‘injuries that still affect me to this day’.

Will added: ‘I don’t know if any changes will be made. I’m just a Table Tennis player.

“If other events hadn’t taken place, my story might not have been heard or reported in the news. I can only hope that it will be given attention now, leading to necessary adjustments.”

‘It’s extremely intense and it’s extremely competitive show.’

In a letter to the BBC, he suggested areas for improvement, but felt discouraged by their reaction.

I received a reply and was left feeling disheartened upon rereading it. The words seemed to bring me down with their gloominess. It felt akin to being told, “We’ve exhausted all our options and are behind you.”

I’ve been there before, feeling like I was blowing a simple issue out of proportion. It weighed heavily on me, and I couldn’t help but feel that my perspective wasn’t being heard. Yet, deep down, all I truly wanted was for someone to listen and consider making necessary adjustments based on my experience. The weight of the situation seemed insurmountable at times, but I could only hope for understanding and change.

In my experience as a lifestyle expert, I’ve come across situations where individuals make bold claims about sustaining long-term injuries. For instance, Will asserted that an accident occurred during one of his jumps on a popular show left him with a lasting injury. He went on to accuse his former partner Janette of being responsible.

Later on, the BBC was informed by Janette’s spokesperson: “Janette enjoyed immensely partnering with Will during the contemporary dance number in the competition, which she particularly cherished.”

During her stint on Strictly, she made sure her famous companion’s safety and pleasure were given top priority at all times.

Janette hasn’t had any criticism from anyone and has kept her friendships with every partner, including Will.

During last year’s live shows, a previously unearthed clip revealed a heart-wrenching scene where I, Will, lay crumpled on the floor in agony after making a unfortunate jump.

In the video, Tess shared the news that Will was hurt and unable to dance that week. The scene switched to Will, who was seen lying on the floor in pain, while a medic attended to him, administering first aid.

Janette appeared troubled and emotional as she supported her famous dance companion. At a later point in the recording, Janette received words of comfort from dancer Nancy Xu.

“When I hopped down from the table, I touched the ground with my legs fully extended,” Will expressed during the video recording.

‘I thought I’d broke my leg because I’d never felt anything like it before but luckily it’s not as severe as what I thought when I first did it.

It’s deeply disappointing for me to admit that I just can’t dance at this moment. I’ll take some time to heal and regroup, with the goal of returning next week more determined and stronger than ever.

A week-long break was granted to Will due to his injury, which required him to leave the competition permanently after missing yet another live performance.

The gold medalist confessed that as he fell to the ground in agony, he feared his entire career had come to an end due to the excruciating pain.

Earlier on Monday, the BBC broke their silence after Paralympian Will’s claims over the weekend.

Will was left with excruciating knee pain after competing on the series.

The BBC stated: “We have established procedures for handling injuries, ensuring that contestants receive proper treatment and assistance when needed.”

In an interview with The Sun, I shared my experience: “During our rehearsals, I took great care in perfecting my jump. But then Janette bluntly pointed out that it looked lackluster and urged me to add more enthusiasm, to truly embrace the passion behind each attempt.”

Determined to improve, the sportsman ‘went for it’ but experienced ‘the most horrific pain.’

He shared how he lay helplessly on the floor, believing his professional journey had reached its end. Suddenly, he felt and heard his leg snap, and found himself struggling to draw breath.

“That injury will always be a part of my life, making my existing condition even more limiting. Every day I’m reminded of the pain when I wake up and can barely train for more than a few hours without feeling sore.”

Instead of “Will explained that he ‘didn’t have an issue with Janette,'” you could say “Will made it clear that he got along fine with Janette.” As for “he felt that she was under pressure from the show’s bosses,” you could paraphrase as “he believed the show’s bosses were putting undue stress on Janette.” And finally, instead of “They have remained friends since their time on the series,” you could say “Their friendship continued after their stint on the show.”

I, as a devoted supporter of BBC, adhere to the policy of not commenting on individual matters or engaging in rumors. Yet, just like we’ve mentioned before, we are open to listening if someone approaches us with concerns directly. Rest assured, we have established procedures and processes in place to address such issues effectively.

During the moment of his injury, Will commended his dance partner Janette for being as steady and unyielding as a rock once his remarkable experience drew to a close, causing her to weep.

I remember hearing a popping sound in my knee, which made me believe I had fractured it. But later on, a doctor explained that I had torn my anterior cruciate ligament instead.

At the show, Will expressed his disappointment yet excitement, sharing, “I’m really bummed, but what a night it is! Everyone is killing it.”

In my opinion, I’ve received an incredible amount of assistance during this journey. The least I can do in return is be here for you all again. I’m truly pleased to witness your progress.

I’ve been training tirelessly for years, pouring my heart and soul into perfecting my craft. The thought of standing atop the podium once more, holding that gold medal aloft, is what keeps me going. Tokyo is my next destination, where I’ll be putting all my skills to the test. In a couple of weeks, I’ll finally get to experience the electric atmosphere of the Olympic Games firsthand. The memories of my previous victory still fuel my determination to make it happen again. It’s not just about the glory or the accolades; it’s about the journey, the growth, and the unwavering belief in myself that has brought me this far. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

“Janette is the best part of my experience. She’s been an unwavering source of support for me, and I can’t praise her enough.”

In 2021, the rescheduled Tokyo Games took place, where Will, having fully healed from his previous wound, claimed the silver medals for both individual and team events.

Lately, Strictly has been thrown into disorder with several claims of misconduct by its staff members surfacing.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: Last year, I found myself in a difficult situation when my partner, actor Giovanni Pernice, and I were working on a show together. Unfortunately, I had to make the tough decision to leave the production due to some unsettling behavior from him that I couldn’t ignore. Later, I spoke up about his abusive treatment towards me, causing quite a scandal in the industry.

Shortly following the news that Love Island star Zara McDermott’s partner, Graziano Di Prima, was let go for allegedly kicking her.

After reports surfaced, an unidentified female dance partner for Strictly was drawn into a scandal following allegations of shouting and criticizing her male partner harshly during off-camera moments.

On Mondays, two additional experts, Ola Jordan and Janette, became involved in the controversy as a source inside the production labeled it severely damaged.

Last year, Amanda chose to leave the show prior to making allegations against her partner, Giovanni, of abusive behavior towards her. Subsequently, Giovanni departed from the show, strongly refuting all accusations.

Amanda, age 50, unexpectedly departed from the BBC program, announcing “personal matters” as the reason. She has been absent from television appearances and recently deactivated her social media accounts following the dismissal of her previous dancing companion.

An investigation at the BBC is ongoing following claims made by Amanda and two ex-celebrity partners against Giovanni, who is 33 years old and currently suspended.

During her initial interview after leaving Strictly in October, Amanda shared that she found Giovanni’s actions to be unnecessary.

During an interview with The Sun, Amanda shared her perspective, stating, “Giovanni’s actions towards me were unwarranted, hurtful, unkind, and harmful. I wouldn’t stand by and allow him to mistreat others.”

Earlier this month, Graziano Di Prima, a well-known Italian dancer, was let go from the program following allegations that he had kicked and spat at Zara during a dance performance.

After the unexpected termination of Graziano from the show, the bosses made it mandatory to have chaperones present during training and hired two new individuals to oversee welfare matters.

Love Island star Zara broke her silence on the scandal last week.

On Tuesday morning, she posted on Instagram that being part of Strictly was a dream come true for her most of the time. However, within the training room with Graziano, there were certain occurrences that left her feeling extremely upset.

Zara expressed her belief that she should share her thoughts on the recent news stories. She’s always been captivated by Strictly, one of the most enchanting TV shows for her, ever since she was a young child.

In an old interview that recently surfaced, Zara acknowledged that she would have selected a different dance partner for Strictly Come Dancing than Graziano Di Prima.

As a lifestyle expert looking back on old footage, I came across a clip of Zara expressing her wish to collaborate with a new dance partner instead of her current one.

When when asked the question, “If you had to dance with another dancer or contestant for a week, which one would you choose?”, I, along with Grazia, Zara, and Graziano, pondered over our answer.

Zara immediately said: ‘I know who I would pick, but you go first.’

Instead of: “But Graziano declined to choose someone and said, ‘See you later,’ as he rose to leave angrily,” and “Zara countered, ‘It’s just a game! It is only a game'”

But the Italian shot back: ‘Yeah but your brain went there anyway.’

Zara tried to explain that she had chosen someone based on their being very kind.

She expressed: “I don’t have anyone specific in mind, but if there was a dancer I found particularly appealing and compatible with, it would likely be Kai [Widdrington] for me to dance with.”

I’ve had the pleasure of observing and interacting with people from all walks of life throughout my experiences. In one particular instance, I recall an intriguing exchange between two individuals named Graziano and Zara. Their conversation unfolded as follows:

And it is not just male dancers who are now facing allegations of abusive behaviour.

A week ago, a celebrity participating in the show alleged that an as yet undisclosed Female Strictly dance partner shouted and insulted him during unscheduled filming sessions.

The Daily Mirror reported that the household name’s allegations do not include physical abuse.

According to a source, the man involved expressed strong feelings of being mistreated by his dance partner on Strictly.

On multiple instances, she became extremely angry when he failed to perform the steps correctly, and during one particular incident, she loudly scolded him directly in his face. Every day, they argued passionately over these misunderstandings.

In 2014, Steve Backshall expressed concern to the BBC over his partnership with Ola Jordan on “Strictly Come Dancing,” alleging that she had behaved intimidatingly towards him.

At age 51, the seasoned adventurer and broadcaster, with experience of encountering Great White sharks and venomous serpents, expressed discontent to the network following challenging rehearsals.

During a time of crisis for the show due to multiple abuse allegations and an ongoing investigation into misconduct, bullying accusations have resurfaced. Some insiders are now expressing concern that the series has been severely damaged.

After making a complaint, they were given a companion to accompany them both, as he declined to be in the same place as the 41-year-old Polish-born dancer without supervision.

The leaders of the program had to intervene when he claimed her “impolite and impatient” behavior had affected his self-assurance.

A confidant of the show shared back then: “Steve is quite lively and eager to take on new experiences. However, Ola’s tough handling left him deflated and robbed him of his self-assurance.”

“Last Saturday’s Charleston shapes proved challenging for him, and she responded with unnecessarily rude and impatienc behavior.”

In my experience as a lifestyle expert, I understand that sometimes following complex instructions can be challenging. For instance, when learning new dance moves or techniques, it may feel overwhelming at times. Instead of struggling on your own, consider reaching out to others for assistance. You could ask a friend or family member to demonstrate the steps or even join a class where you can learn from an instructor and fellow students. Remember, there’s no shame in seeking help when needed. By doing so, you’ll be able to make progress more effectively and enjoy the learning process.

“The insider described Ola as being aloof and uncaring, keeping her distance from Steve’s loved ones.”

After the Halloween Charleston dance, Steve voiced his concerns directly to one of the Strictly producers.

Last week, James, Ola’s husband and a former contestant on the show like her, fiercely responded after old videos surfaced in which he threatened to drag Georgina across the floor and shout at her if she forgot her dance steps.

The ballroom dancer and choreographer, aged 46, criticized the BBC strongly after an old clip resurfaced online in the wake of the latest scandals involving Giovanni and Graziano. She stated that the majority of the content in the clip didn’t concern Georgina at all.

In 2006, during the filming of the fourth series, there is a clip that captures him practicing scenes with actress Georgina.

He similarly tells her, “I want you to hurt yourself,” as he makes her stand on just one leg and becomes indifferent to her suffering if she hasn’t actually broken a rib. Meanwhile, he carelessly flings a chair through the fitness center.

He’s countered the viral video on Instagram by posting a fiery message, claiming it was manipulated for amusement and greatly amplified.
