Strictly’s Nick Knowles hits back at a fan who slams him for visiting a private doctor following his arm injury as he reveals he was ‘forced to live in his car’ during career struggles
As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I can wholeheartedly empathize with Nick Knowles’ response to his critic. The path to success is rarely a smooth one, and it often requires making sacrifices along the way. In Nick’s case, he’s been there, sleeping on friends’ sofas and living in his car when times were tough, all to pursue his passion for television.
In response to a critic, Nick Knowles defended himself following accusations about his recent visit to a Harley Street clinic, which was due to a severe arm injury he sustained earlier in the week.
As a connoisseur of all things related to living well, I must share an unexpected turn of events that recently occurred in my personal life. Being a DIY enthusiast myself, I found myself in a predicament similar to Nick Knowles, the esteemed host of DIY SOS, when I accidentally injured my arm and shoulder while attempting a simple tire change on my own vehicle. This unfortunate incident has led me to ponder the future of his involvement with the beloved show, and I send him my best wishes for a swift and full recovery.
Initially, it was disclosed that Nick had scheduled a visit to a physician on Harley Street for an examination and consultation, which he subsequently underwent. Later images captured him exiting the appointment accompanied by his partner, Katie Dadzie.
However, when someone jokingly remarked that it’s wonderful to have a personal physician, Nick retorted by stating that he’s extremely fortunate in his career success, and feels obligated to repay his family for their unwavering support.
As I worked tirelessly to launch my TV career, I found myself immersed in the world of my profession. When financial struggles arose, I gratefully relied on the kindness of friends who opened their homes to me, offering their sofas as temporary beds while I pursued my dreams.
Following Nick’s post about his arm injury, a fan commented: “It seems convenient to have access to Harley Street for assessments and scans whenever needed.
Many individuals might spend numerous hours on the phone trying to reach their general practitioner’s office or wait in emergency departments, just to find themselves added to a queue for a scan. It’s quite astonishing to think about the stark contrast between such experiences and the seemingly effortless access to healthcare enjoyed by others.
Nick subsequently agreed, stating, ‘You’re absolutely correct. For the past four decades, I’ve had periods where I lived in my car and stayed on other people’s couches to maintain my TV career when it wasn’t lucrative. However, things have improved lately, and I’ve been able to repay those I owe and provide for my family, including private healthcare. I consider myself quite fortunate.’
The speaker disclosed that he sustained an injury on his arm during a car breakdown on the highway on Sunday. He’s yet to receive word from medical professionals about whether he can carry on with the program.
On Monday, Nick was with Janette Manrara on It Takes Two, and during their conversation, he mentioned that he was driving his ten-year-old son to a party but encountered a breakdown. Later, he experienced escalating discomfort in his arm, causing additional delays.
‘I actually missed my birthday party because of being stuck on the motorway,’ he added.
Nick shared the story behind his injury, disclosing that he had accidentally injured his arm while hastily attempting to switch tires following a breakdown.
He mentioned that it was his birthday. However, he had a large family gathering planned, and when he went to pick up his ten-year-old son to take him to the party, their car broke down on the highway with a flat tire.
I’d like to express my gratitude to the two officers from Taplow who showed up and assisted me in fixing the tire.
Nick went on to say, “It was pouring rain and large trucks were passing by, so I hurried to replace the tire swiftly due to the circumstances. However, in the process of removing the tire, I ended up injuring my bicep and my arm.
He explained that after initially damaging his bicep and arm, the pain got ‘worse and worse’, with the presenter telling how he ended up missing his own party because of the breakdown.
In response to Janette’s query about his future on the show, Nick expressed optimism, stating that he would learn more about it the following day.
‘I’m fully expecting to go into training and hopefully will be back on Saturday night.’
It’s said that Nick is scheduled to see the physiotherapist from the BBC show on Tuesday, who will make a decision about his future.
A source told The Sun on Monday: ‘Nick will learn whether he is able to stay on Strictly tomorrow.
He’s scheduled for a session with the show’s physiotherapist, who will assess his condition. If all goes well, he might dance this weekend.
