Viewers of Strictly Come Dancing felt uncomfortable during Saturday’s live show because of a particularly awkward moment, and many wished it would end quickly.
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Karen Hauer danced the Rumba on the show to a version of Roxette’s popular song, “It Must Have Been Love.”
Latin ballroom dancing is a slow, passionate dance known for its graceful hip and body movements. Harry’s performance particularly impressed judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas.
Oh my gosh, when Harry finished dancing – and seriously, that undone blue shirt?! Those abs are unreal! – Tess asked him how he was feeling, and he was SO cute, he actually said he was a little embarrassed! I almost died, honestly. He’s just… perfect.
Judges Motsi and Shirley actually liked the passionate rumba, and commented on the strong connection between the dancers.
Motsi praised their partnership, saying they worked very well together and that the dancer was supportive throughout the performance. She noted the dancer moved in all directions – up, down, left, and right – and that the ability to connect with a partner like that is a special skill that takes practice and intuition.

Following a similar point made by Craig Revel-Horwood, Motsi added that while the dance could have been smoother with more weight transfer, everyone should focus on the connection between the dancers!
The audience roared their approval, and Motsi exclaimed, “It was hot!” before she and Shirley burst into unrestrained laughter.
The camera focused on Tess Daley, who exclaimed with amusement, ‘Whatever you’ve done to them, they’re acting crazy!’
After taking a moment to gather her thoughts, Shirley shared her feedback, saying she completely agreed with Motsi. She felt the performance had great chemistry, a compelling story, and a strong sense of sensuality.
Harry and Karen, both already in long-term relationships, appeared uncomfortable and attempted to joke about it when they took the stage.
Karen admitted they didn’t feel comfortable with being seen as ‘sexy’ and found it awkward. Claudia then playfully reminded her of their reaction when a judge mentioned chemistry – they both visibly cringed. Claudia pointed out that they clearly struggled with that comment.
Harry, attempting to lighten the uncomfortable moment, said, ‘I’m not an actor, and I’m definitely not suave. I’m actually pretty clumsy and silly, you know?’
‘I had to try and be this…person. It was really challenging, but we’re here to embrace it.’

Harry is a British sprinter and Olympian who has achieved significant success representing Team GB. He’s won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and three at the European Championships. He is married to Lauren Cooper.
The pair tied the knot in October 2019 and the pair share a young daughter named Aubreé-Isla.
Meanwhile Karen has been dating her boyfriend Simon Davidson for nearly two years.
Fans were quick to react to the awkward moment which saw the pair receive an overall 26 points.
People turned to X to call the situation ‘unfair,’ and many shared memes jokingly portraying Harry’s wife as frustrated.

‘Shirley eyeing up Harry. Standard #Strictly.’
People are commenting that Shirley and Motsi’s playful laughter about Harry at the judges’ table feels like watching a fun sleepover. They’re sharing this observation with the hashtag #Strictly.
‘Harry’s wife in the audience after hearing the chemistry comments #Strictly’
‘Very unfair to comment like that. Just focus on the dance.’
Okay, so after watching the show, I noticed Harry’s partner in the audience – you could *totally* tell they were a bit thrown by the judges’ comments about chemistry! It’s always a little awkward when those personal vibes get discussed on national television, isn’t it? You could really see it playing out on their face – a moment everyone watching at home could relate to, I think!
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday night for the results show.
