Strictly’s Kai Widdrington ‘will NOT be paired with a celebrity partner in 2024 series’ in latest blow to scandal hit BBC show

Strictly's Kai Widdrington 'will NOT be paired with a celebrity partner in 2024 series' in latest blow to scandal hit BBC show

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience in analyzing and dissecting the world of entertainment, I must say I find myself both saddened and intrigued by the recent turn of events in the Strictly Come Dancing universe. The decision to bench Kai Widdrington, a fan favorite and a dancer with undeniable talent, is certainly a blow to the show’s lineup this year. However, it seems that the male-heavy lineup might be more than just a coincidence, given the flurry of bullying allegations that have plagued the show in recent times.

According to recent news updates, it appears that Kai Widdrington won’t be teamed up with a famous partner for the upcoming 2024 season of the series.

The 29-year-old ballroom artist, partnered with Angela Rippon in the 2023 edition, appears upset by the recent decision that was handed down.

In a recent development, the Strictly Come Dancing star who parted ways with his girlfriend Nadiya Bychkova in June has been temporarily sidelined by the BBC, marking another setback for the controversial series.

Despite being set to rejoin the show, Kai had to withdraw from the competition because of the limited number of women participating. However, he will continue to participate in the group dance routines.

This year marks a historic event for the show as it features six female competitors versus nine male ones for the first time.

A source shared with The Sun: ‘Kai has unfortunately been the initial elimination in this year’s predominantly male lineup. Given the limited number of female celebrities, it was predictable that certain professionals would not be partnered, but it’s particularly disappointing that Kai is among them.’

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but express my delight in how brilliantly he danced alongside Angela during the last series. He truly is a crowd-pleaser! Yet, much like last year’s disappointment when Nadiya was left without a partner, it’s essential to remember that showrunners consider numerous aspects before deciding which dancer will team up with each celebrity.

They consider a variety of factors, including height and chemical compatibility tests, to determine the ideal team composition, unfortunately leaving Kai out. He will dance with other male participants who weren’t chosen this year.

TopMob have contacted Kai and Strictly Come Dancing for a comment.

After Amanda Abbington and Zara McDermott shared their stories about being bullied during rehearsals, the predominantly male cast faced a wave of accusations following their performances.

In 2021, allegations arose that Giovanni Pernice, aged 33, and Graziano Di Prima were accused of mishandling their professional dance partners who are popular figures in entertainment.

In a strong statement of innocence, Giovanni denies any misconduct, whereas Graziano, aged 30, originally admitted to and expressed remorse for actions against Zara.

The identities of the competitors for Strictly’s series 22, starting in September, were revealed from as early as August 5.

The announcement of the verdict regarding the dispute between Giovanni and Amanda Abbington is anticipated to be made in the coming days.

The Strictly scandal erupted when Sherlock actress Amanda quit the show in 2023.

In my own words, I must admit that I experienced behavior from my dance partner, Giovanni, which I perceived as abusive. This treatment ultimately compelled me to make the difficult decision to step away from the show.

In July, Graziano was dismissed due to allegations that he had physically harmed his dance partner, the Love Island star Zara McDermott, during their partnership period.

Star of DIY SOS, Nick Knowles, ex-football player Paul Merson, and British hockey sensation Sam Quek will appear in a fresh lineup for an upcoming series.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I learned that blind comedian Chris McCausland would be gracing the first celebrity contestant spot in the 2024 series! The anticipation was palpable as he made his grand reveal on This Morning, sharing the exciting news with us all on Monday.

As an over-the-moon admirer, I can’t help but share the exciting news: I’ll be sharing the spotlight with none other than JLS sensation JB Gill, the melodious voices of Wynne Evans and Toyah Willcox, and the incredible NHS and TV doctor Punam Krishan. Can you believe it? This is truly a dream come true!

Additionally joining the cast are Love Island contestant Tasha Ghouri, reality TV personality Pete Wicks from The Only Way Is Essex, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, actors Shayne Ward and Sarah Hadland, as well as athletes Montell Douglas and Tom Dean.
