Strictly’s Janette Manrara admits she’s cut off TWO professional dancers at the centre of the BBC scandal
As a long-time admirer and follower of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say that this year has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. The show that once brought joy and inspiration to millions is now grappling with a series of scandals that have left many of us fans feeling disheartened.
Janette Manrara, a celebrity on Strictly Come Dancing, has openly stated that she has ended relationships with two dancers who find themselves in the midst of the BBC controversy.
The 40-year-old mother of one stated that she has not attempted to contact Graziano Di Prima or Giovanni Pernice since accusations about their supposedly abusive behavior surfaced, as of now.
Despite sharing ‘great’ friendships with the former Strictly pros, Janette said she is a ‘girls girl’, when speaking about the ‘complicated’ and ‘messy’ scandal.
She mentioned that she’s been avoiding the situation, as it’s quite complex and she identifies more with women. She’s unsure about it.
They were truly wonderful friends, and it deeply upsets me to witness all the unfolding events affecting not only them but also the celebrities involved. This is an incredibly chaotic period for everyone involved.
Last year, actress Amanda Abbington abruptly left the show, and subsequently accused her partner, Giovanni, of abusive behavior. Following these allegations, she departed from the show.
Shortly following the revelation that Graziano was dismissed due to an incident involving him allegedly striking his girlfriend, Love Island celebrity Zara McDermott.
In the course of our conversation, I shared the brief yet impactful message I sent to my past celebrity companion, Will, after his surprising declarations.
36-year-old Paralympic table tennis athlete alleged that his longtime partner, Janette, made him repeat a jump which ultimately resulted in a lifelong injury during the recent upheaval of the controversial show, often referred to as ‘irreparably damaged’.
In the BBC competition, Will had to withdraw prematurely when he felt his leg snap during his second trial of jumping off a table in the studio rehearsal. This followed Janette’s comment that his initial attempt was less than satisfactory.
In response to Will’s appeal to the BBC for an apology regarding his ordeal on the controversial program, it is now public knowledge that Janette initially contacted Will via text message.
She explained: “I reached out to Will since we’re close pals. As soon as he received my message, he apologized, saying, ‘I’m truly sorry if it gave off the wrong impression. I wouldn’t want you to think it was about you.'”
She claims she sent a simple two words back to Will, writing: ‘It’s OK’.
In an interview with The Sun, Janette shared: “Dancing with him brought me immense joy. My eyes welled up only once during Strictly, and that was while performing our Couple’s Choice dance, which was a tribute to Great Ormond Street Hospital.”
In response to your query regarding my reaction to the recent allegations surrounding Strictly, here’s my take: “Indeed, I was taken aback, for it’s not something one wishes to encounter. Yet, at the same time, a part of me wasn’t entirely surprised, as such incidents unfortunately do occur in the world we live in.”
In this performance, it’s a dance competition, so it involves physical exertion. There can be intense moments during practice sessions. Each participant strives for excellence, and every professional challenges themselves. However, the pursuit of best should always be constructive and encouraging.
Last week on “This Morning,” I, an ardent fan, heard Will open up more about the harrowing experience he went through. He described it as deeply traumatic and shared that following the show, he penned down his worries to the BBC, only to be made to feel like I was exaggerating a minor issue.
Additionally, he advocated for significant transformations within the program and more compassionate handling for individuals with disabilities. He expressed that an apology or acknowledgment of some sort would have been truly heartening during that period.
On Tuesday, Tim Davie, head of the BBC, genuinely expressed his regret and apologies for the current controversy. He conveyed his deep sorrow to anyone whose experience with Strictly wasn’t entirely pleasant.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d share my personal journey: Born with arthrogryposis, a condition that restricts the flexibility of my joints, I’ve learned to adapt and thrive. In my case, I completed a move with my knees locked straight.
On This Morning, Will shared that he was unable to walk for a span of six months. He mentioned that this period was emotionally challenging for him. Additionally, he expressed that his family had to cope with this tough situation.
As someone who has worked with individuals with disabilities for many years, I strongly believe that it is crucial for us as a society to focus on how we can provide support to those who face unique challenges in their daily lives. The term ‘woke’ may be used casually these days, but when it comes to advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities, it goes beyond being politically correct or trendy. It is about recognizing and valuing their inherent worth and dignity, and ensuring that they have equal opportunities to participate fully in all aspects of life.
‘I am grateful that they covered my surgery but there wasn’t much communication afterwards.
People claim that I’m just hopping on the bandwagon, but the truth is, I’ve been expressing this viewpoint for quite some time. It seems that it’s only now when people are paying attention. Acknowledgement or apology would have been heartening to receive.
“Some Strictly fans are questioning my statement, but I’ve faced tougher situations before, so I can handle the criticism. I think the situation could have been handled differently with more care.”
He went on to insist that he didn’t blame his professional partner Janette for what happened ‘at all’.
In a more casual manner, the sentence could be rephrased as follows: ‘Janette was incredibly supportive. We’re both quite competitive and really wanted to come out on top. She’s incredibly skilled and professional in her field.’
Later, a spokesperson for Janette informed the BBC that Janette thoroughly enjoyed dancing with Will, and one of her most cherished experiences on the program was performing their contemporary couples’ routine together.
During her stint on Strictly, ensuring her famous companion’s security and fun was her top concern all along.
Lately, strict order has been thrown into disarray due to several claims of misconduct by professionals being exposed.
Subsequently, an anonymous female dancer from Strictly found herself embroiled in a controversy when allegations surfaced that she had shouted at and criticized her male dance partner away from the camera during filming.
As a devoted fan and follower, I found myself drawn into the unfolding events when two esteemed colleagues, Ola Jordan and Janette, became part of the storyline. The series had been labeled as ‘fatally tarnished’ by an inside source, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the whole spectacle.
Last year, Amanda ended her participation in the show, alleging that her partner Giovanni had been abusive towards her. Subsequently, he departed from the show, emphatically denying all accusations.
Amanda, 50, abruptly left the BBC show citing ‘personal issues’ and hasn’t been seen on screen since, even quitting social media last month in the wake of her former dance partner’s sacking.
Giovanni, aged 33, has been temporarily removed from his position as the investigation by the BBC continues regarding claims made by Amanda and two other ex-celebrity associates.
After the unexpected termination of Graziano from the show, it was decided that supervisors would institute new measures such as having chaperones present during training sessions, and hiring two additional individuals to focus on welfare matters.
