Strictly’s Dianne Buswell admits she saw Chris McCausland ‘go grey’ just minutes before their first performance – as the fan-favourite shares his biggest fear
As an ardent fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say I am absolutely thrilled with Chris McCausland’s journey so far! The man went grey just minutes before their first dance, and yet he managed to impress viewers with his Cha Cha Cha, earning a solid score of 23. It’s not every day you see a comedian transforming into a graceful dancer right before your eyes!
Comedian Chris McCausland noticeably turned gray mere moments before he started his first dance, as Dianne Buswell, his dancing partner, shared.
Following their captivating performance of the Cha Cha Cha, this pair is now considered top contenders for the title in the competition. Notably, the comedian has made history by becoming the very first visually impaired participant on the show.
In an interview with Heat Magazine, Chris (age 47) and Dianne (age 35) shared memories of the apprehension they both experienced moments before embarking on their initial dance together.
Dianne expressed: “I had never witnessed him turn such a pale gray before in all my life. It was eerie and unsettling. I felt afraid because we were uncertain about how Chris would handle the crowd and the noise.
As time passes, the color is gradually moving closer to our natural skin tones, yet there’s a faint hint of change each week.
Initially apprehensive, Chris managed to captivate spectators with his performance at the first live broadcast, securing himself a commendable score of 23 points.
Later on, Chris confided that initially, he harbored concerns about appearing as a ‘tragedy’ or garnering the ‘pity vote’ when he signed up for the show.
He added: ‘I said no to this a few times because I just didn’t think I’d be able to do it. I don’t want to be the sympathy vote.
I’m okay with being a less-than-perfect dancer, even if it leads to some laughter. What I wasn’t comfortable with was not being able to see and potentially causing a mishap.
Last week, Chris and Dianne managed to skip the dance-off as they ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard with their Halloween-inspired Samba performance.
In this coming week, they’ll perform a Tango set to the tune “Rock and Roll All Nite” by KISS, which is a new addition to the show called “Icons Week”.
At the moment, bookmakers are favoring Chris and Dianne with odds of 9/4 to emerge victorious in the series. However, if Chris wins, the show might face a conundrum because he could potentially be unavailable for the Strictly Come Dancing live tour due to his inability to participate.
His comedy show, Yonks, has performances scheduled all through January and February that conflict head-on with the live theater shows of Strictly during the same period.
If he ends up winning the competition, a large number of fans might anticipate his involvement in the ensuing tour, as it’s tradition for the standout performers from each season to join this event.
A source informed The Mirror, stating, “Craig allegedly proposed that all this year’s frontrunners would attend, but that notion is false. It’s impossible for Chris to be present in two locations simultaneously.
In my case, I regret to say that I won’t be able to participate due to scheduling conflicts. All the shows on my comedy tour, starting from January 17, are set to take place at the same time.
At the moment, Chris is considered the most likely choice by Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri. Coming next is Sarah Hadland from the show Miranda, who has odds of 10/1, followed by Jamie Borthwick from EastEnders, who stands at 16/1.
A representative from Ladbrokes stated that Chris McCausland appears to be dominating this year’s contest, as he has increased his advantage in betting for Strictly.
‘Tasha is his main rival as things stand, but punters only see one winner.’
Following the emotional response from fans after witnessing Chris and Dianne’s flawless dance performance last week, which was a tribute to Liverpool in the form of a waltz, they left viewers spellbound.
