Strictly’s Anton Du Beke looks in great spirits as he takes photos with fans after being dragged into misconduct scandal
As a long-time fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I have had the pleasure of watching Anton Du Beke grace the ballroom floor for over two decades. His dedication and passion for dance are truly inspiring, and it’s no surprise that he has become a beloved figure in British television.
An allegation of misconduct against him in the Strictly Come Dancing competition has surfaced, following reports of his questionable conduct from a past dancing partnership with Laila Rouass, which apparently caused unease.
Anton Du Beke dismissed the latest controversy as he snapped photos with enthusiastic fans in Manchester on Sunday.
The judge, aged 58, seemed cheerful as he entered the Lowry Theatre in Salfquarterly_verbed: go, dressed down in a simple outfit of a white polo neck and gray pants.
I wasn’t surprised when enthusiastic fans quickly identified me and asked for selfies.
The TV personality appeared unfazed after being identified as the fourth celebrity involved in the investigation for misconduct.
In the 2009 competition, he made Laila, who has Indian and Moroccan background, cry with his joke about her appearance after a spray tan, calling her a derogatory term that started with “P.” This remark has recently been brought up again.
Anton expressed regret and apologized to Laila immediately for the awkward remarks he made to the actress. They reconciled and made up several weeks afterwards.

Giovanni, 33, quit the BBC show earlier this year and is currently suspended while a BBC probe is underway over claims of off-camera misconduct after complaints were filed by Amanda Abbington, 50, and several of his former celebrity dance partners.
Alongside Giovanni, the professional dancer Graziano Di Prima, aged 30, was let go from the program this week. He later expressed regret for physically attacking his celebrity partner Zara McDermott, 27, during practice sessions the previous year.
On Saturday, Shirley Ballas and Ruth Langsford expressed their backing for Anton following his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.
Although an investigation was in progress, the two women still posted birthday messages for Anton on social media as he turned 58.
Shirley Ballas, our head judge on Strictly, expressed her affection for her longtime colleague on Instagram in honor of his birthday.
“Shirley shared a photo of the two of them: ‘Wishing a joyful birthday to your majesty @mrantondubeke. Looking forward to seeing you soon.’ “
The star posted a vintage video of them dancing together on the BBC studio floor, captioning it with “Throwback.”
During the 2017 series, Ruth, the host of Loose Women, expressed her backing for Anton after appearing as his partner on the show.
She shared a photo of the two of them together, when they were backstage on the show.
She gushed: ‘Happy birthday to the loveliest man and best partner EVER!’.
She then added: ‘Sending you a big birthday squeeze @mrantondubeke’.
Anton received a touching note from his wife Hannah, accompanied by pictures of their six-year-old twins, George and Henrietta.
“Happy birthday, dear Anton Du Beke George! Ra Ra and I adore you so much and are eager to celebrate together. We’ll call soon for a serenade… Get ready for Granny! Happy birthday, my love.”
He reshared Hannah du Beke’s message and replied: “Such an lovely message to kick off my birthday! Thanks, Hannah. Excited to party with everyone on Monday. Sending lots of love.”
Anton joined the BBC dancing show for its first series back in 2004.
He then became part of the judging panel in 2019 when Bruno Tonioli left.
