Strictly's Anton Du Beke gushes that blind comedian Chris McCausland's dancing 'is the most brilliant thing he has ever seen' on the BBC show

As someone who has been captivated by Strictly Come Dancing for years, I must say that Chris McCausland’s performances this season are nothing short of extraordinary. Being a visually impaired individual myself, I can truly appreciate the skill and determination it takes to dance at such a high level without sight.

Anton Du Beke praised Chris McCausland’s dancing on Strictly Come Dancing, calling it “the absolute standout, awe-inspiring performance I’ve witnessed on this program.

47-year-old comedian without sight and his accomplished dance partner Dianne Buswell have left BBC audience members spellbound by their extraordinary routines thus far.

Anton, aged 58, enthusiastically expressed his admiration for Chris’ dance skills, calling them both ‘extraordinary’ and ‘phenomenal’. He insists on evaluating Chris just like any other competitor.

Anton mentioned in the first week that he can dance exceptionally well despite being blind. Now, we don’t dwell on it because he prefers to be evaluated just like everyone else. However, I must share with you that he’s blind and yet he performs feats such as standing on sofas and jumping off things with impeccable timing.

‘He is making it look a bit easy if I am honest. It is just so extraordinary I find it difficult to put into words, really, how gripping it is. And what a job Dianne is doing, I would have kept him in hold and gone to the side and I would have gone forward.

She’s told him to move along, and it was simply outstanding! The timing was nothing short of perfect. Honestly, his feel for the beat is extraordinary. Let me say, that was the most impressive performance I’ve ever witnessed on Strictly Come Dancing.

It comes after Dianne revealed how she trains blind partner Chris for the live BBC show.

In the first week of the contest, the duo earned 23 points and captivated audiences with their lively Cha Cha performance set to Twist and Shout by The Beatles.

Currently, Dianne disclosed that she needs Chris to position his hands on her body so he can sense the appropriate actions.

Before stepping onto the dance floor for the first time, she shared that she wouldn’t be able to demonstrate what it should look like.

I discovered that Chris was placing his hand on my body, feeling the movement of both my arms and legs. This tactile exploration seemed to spark an immediate thought in him about what action he needed to take.

Chris, who’s visually impaired by retinitis pigmentosa, commented: ‘She’s exceptionally patient and truly helps bring out my best.’

After Chris exited, he left everyone, including the audience and viewers, in fits of laughter due to his sharp jab at Craig Revel Horwood.

So far, the star’s performance has been met with great approval from viewers due to his mischievous humor and amusing quips. On Saturday, Chris continued this trend by joking about Craig.

Throughout the performance, the sharp-witted judge critiqued the participants quite sternly, awarding relatively low marks.

When host Claudia Winkleman shifted the conversation to Chris for discussing his forthcoming foxtrot, he seized the moment to align himself with other dancers and jab back at Craig’s critiques.

In response to Claudia’s questions regarding his dance, Chris said, “It seems like Craig might not be able to see as well as me!” or “From what I gather about our dance, it appears that Craig may not have as good vision as I do!

His amusing remark brought roaring laughter from his dancing companions and Claudia. The entertained host even needed a brief pause to regain her composure, responding with, “Let me gather myself for a moment.

Chris’ witty remark was met with a wave of applause from the audience, who found his amusing jab at Craig entertaining.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.25pm on BBC One.
