As a spectator of Strictly Come Dancing, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of admiration for contestants like Amy. Her journey from battling cancer to gracing the dancefloor is nothing short of inspiring. It’s not just about the dance moves; it’s about resilience, determination, and the power of the human spirit.

Amy Dowden, who is always a shining star, shared a heartfelt message expressing her resolve to keep moving forward during her recovery from a foot injury that required her withdrawal from the performance.

Following her treatment for stage 3 breast cancer last year, Amy, aged 34, had to take a break from the show due to her recovery process after chemotherapy.

This year saw the comeback of the professional dancer on BBC’s ballroom, partnered with JB Gill, a 37-year-old singer from JLS. Regrettably, it was disclosed last week that the dancer would have to step out of the competition because of an injury.

In her statement, Amy mentioned that she is committed to continuing her recovery process, saying: “A year has passed, and I am more determined than ever to move forward in the coming year!

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who reached out over the past week. Your messages really make all the difference! I can’t pretend that everything is alright at the moment, but I firmly believe that I will find my way through, and it’s a comfort to know that so many loved ones are by my side. Here’s hoping for an even brighter 2025!

After wrapping up my 20th anniversary series, I’ve been dedicating my time to my recuperation process. My doctors have shared their optimism, suggesting that I might be back on the dance floor by December. Here’s to hoping for a swift and successful recovery!

Currently, she’s shared some insights into her relaxation and recuperation phase through a sequence of Instagram posts. These glimpses reveal the celebrity actively participating in various workout routines at a fitness center, all while concentrating on her path to recovery.

In a single video, she’s captured smiling at the camera as she exercises on a stationary bike. In her caption, she expressed gratitude towards @physios2u and @xfmerryhill for their generous space that aids in her recovery process, which has been quite pleasant.

In another clip, Amy is seen lifting a kettlebell as she shares her aspirations for the future.

She captioned the footage: ‘Some of todays exercises! I’m determined! Don’t get bitter get better! Those dreams certainly aren’t fading away and I’ll always continue to work hard to be the best version of myself.’

After a tough time, Amy found it hard to hide her feelings when she openly expressed being deeply saddened to withdraw from the show, fearing she had disappointed her partner JB.

On Lorraine’s show last week, the Welsh dancer struggled to hold back tears as she admitted, ‘I am deeply saddened and will try hard not to weep. I am devastated that things have ended like this, I believe I have disappointed JB.’

Last weekend, Amy shared the emotional significance behind her desire to perform: exactly one year ago, on that very same Saturday, she had rung the bell signifying the completion of her chemotherapy treatment.

She told Lorraine: ‘Saturday 9 November marks a year since I rang the chemotherapy bell. We were going to do a carnival dance and it was going to be amazing.’

On Saturday, I find myself anticipating a challenge, as the thought of not dancing upon that floor, a symbol of my growth over the past year, is heavy on my heart.

‘When I got my diagnosis that was my goal and that was my dream to get back on the dancefloor.’

Amy has been forced to step out of the contest because of a stress fracture in her foot, an incident not connected to the break she suffered on the other foot earlier this year.

Following the suggestion to take some weeks off without exertion, she confidently told her audience: “I’m doing well, I aim to dance before the conclusion of this season. I’m resolved.

In the course of my life, I’ve faced numerous obstacles, and I remind myself that instead of becoming resentful, I should strive to improve. This too shall pass, but at the moment, I’m deeply saddened.

The glitterball, which indicated my good health, is something I need to recall, as it led me straight back to the dance floor.

As Amy is taking a break, JB will carry on with the competition alongside Lauren Oakley, who he collaborated with two weeks prior.

In other news, the initial pair of participants for Strictly Come Dancing’s holiday version have been disclosed. Comedian Josh Widdicombe and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK champion Tayce are the first famous faces announced as they strive towards winning the silver dance trophy.
