Strictly’s Amber Davies says she’s ‘blocking out’ the backlash against her dance experience and keeping ‘in a bubble’ with partner Nikita Kuzmin

Amber Davies, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, says she’s ignoring the criticism she’s received about her dance background.

People have criticized the 29-year-old Love Island winner and actress, pointing out that she had several years of professional dance experience in West End shows before being on the BBC program.

Amber said she and her dance partner, Nikita Kuzmin, 27, were deliberately avoiding reading negative comments after a photo surfaced of him gently kissing her head.

She explained that she was making a conscious effort to avoid distractions and focus on the present. She was trying to tune out everything around her and simply be mindful of the current moment.

I’m focusing entirely on my performance, Nikita, and the show, Strictly. I just want to go out there, enjoy everything we’ve worked on this week, stay present, and deliver a performance we can all be proud of.

Okay, so everyone’s talking about those pictures of Amber and Nikita, and honestly, I’m thrilled! But apparently, some people are saying this means something bad, like she’s fallen for some silly ‘show curse’ thing. But my sources – yeah, I have sources, okay? – are saying that’s total rubbish! They’re saying it’s just… them, and anyone who thinks it’s anything more is way off base. I knew she was amazing, and this just proves it!

Amber went on to tell The Sun: ‘My motto for Strictly has been, just zone in and be present.’

The actress’ boyfriend, Ben Joyce, didn’t appear bothered by the photos either, as he was seen arriving at her London training studio last week, according to The Sun.

According to a witness, Ben arrived at the location with a large suitcase and was accompanied by his dog, Oreo, at the rehearsal space.

He seemed lost in thought, and it wasn’t clear if he was watching her, but he was back at the place where something significant had happened.

Many men would struggle with the idea of their partner spending hours practicing dance routines with an attractive partner, particularly when they seem to have a strong connection while dancing.

Amber revealed Ben is unfazed by speculation about her close bond with Nikita. 

People have been talking about a strong connection between Amber and Nikita, but Amber has stated she won’t let the show’s reputation for relationship troubles affect her.

Amber assured everyone that Ben isn’t bothered by rumors of the ‘Strictly curse,’ and she also shared that she’s good friends with Nikita’s girlfriend, Lauren Jaine.

She said: ‘The only good thing is Ben is not a****.

I’m not too worried about it since it doesn’t seem to be causing any problems, which is good. He’s just lying down, that’s all.

Amber confessed to The Sun that she’s become very close to Lauren, Nikita’s girlfriend. She says she’s constantly texting Lauren and that Lauren actually spends more time with her than with her boyfriend, Nikita. Amber even jokingly claimed she’s ‘stolen’ Lauren’s attention, mentioning Lauren visited her dressing room before seeing Nikita recently.

Amber shared with the Daily Mail that she and Nikita formed a strong connection quickly. They had very little time to prepare their first dance together, as Amber stepped in for Dani Dyer just hours before rehearsals after Dani hurt her ankle.

A friend of Amber revealed to the Daily Mail that she wasn’t upset about potentially being in the dance-off, despite what people expected.

She wasn’t at all shocked to find herself in that position. As Strictly is purely an entertainment show, anything can happen. In fact, she’d predicted on Saturday that she might be in the dance-off.

She’s starting the week with a good attitude and isn’t worried at all. She’s continuing to have fun with her time on Strictly.

Amber isn’t focused on winning the competition; she’s dedicated to her work, remains modest, and is deeply thankful for the encouragement she’s getting from people in the theater world.

They stated that the idea of a relationship between Amber and Nikita is absurd.

‘The pictures didn’t affect them at all because they know the truth. Amber was unfazed by it.’ 

Nikita, who is dating model Lauren, was seen kissing Amber on the head, sparking rumors of a strong connection between them.

Earlier this month, Amber strongly defended her participation in the show after facing criticism for her background in professional dance.

She shared with the Daily Mail that she’s worked incredibly hard to establish herself in the competitive world of musical theatre, having performed in popular shows like 9 to 5, Back to the Future, and Legally Blonde.

In 2017, Amber was the winner of the popular reality TV show Love Island. That year, the show became a national sensation and instantly made its contestants famous.

She’s now aiming to impress viewers on Strictly Come Dancing, stepping in at the last minute after Dani Dyer, also from Love Island, had to pull out due to a broken ankle.

In a recent interview, Amber explained that she often faces the same criticism no matter how she expresses herself. She feels that because she performs in musical theatre, people readily offer opinions, especially when she’s going through a difficult time.

I’ve worked incredibly hard to gain respect in the musical theatre industry, and I’m exhausted from all the effort.

Honestly, the theatre world feels tiny! But if you really put in the work, really commit, and just show up consistently as a great teammate, word gets around fast. You can build a name for yourself surprisingly quickly, which is amazing to see!

Being raised in the public eye, I’ve learned that my own self-worth is far more important than what others think of me.

Growing up in a working-class family, my parents sacrificed a lot to give my sister and me opportunities like singing and acting lessons. That work ethic is deeply ingrained in me, and I’m driven to always give my best effort. Ultimately, I just want to feel like I’m reaching my full potential.
