With a legendary show like this celebrating its special year, it’s like stepping into a time machine back to my first year covering the series.
A lively trailer for Strictly Come Dancing was recently unveiled, as the show is set to make its comeback on television screens this month.
Following some challenging times due to bullying accusations over the past few months, Aljaz Skorjanec is now navigating the troubled television program successfully.
In a brief video segment, it was the skilled dancer who piloted the pink vehicle, with his fellow performers grooving to the tunes of Vengaboys’ “We Like to Party.”
Amy Dowden returned with charm in the latest trailer, having taken a break from last year’s series as she fought breast cancer.
adorned with plume adornments, soft pastel attire and dresses embellished with sequins, the experts beamed uncontainably as they eagerly anticipated the 20th thrilling comeback of the show.
For several months, the leading program on the BBC has faced accusations involving claims of bullying and mistreatment towards their celebrity dance partners, Amanda Abbington and Zara McDermott, by past professionals, Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima.
This year, professionals teamed up with dancers and some returning faces include Vito Coppola (last year’s winner), Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Karen Hauer, Neil Jones, Katya Jones, and Nikita Kuzmin.
Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, and Michelle Tsiakkas make up the group.
However, contrary to expectations raised by the trailer, Kai Widdrington, who was expected to be a hit, hasn’t been partnered with a celebrity this season because fewer women have signed up this year.
In May 2023, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer, which caused her to miss out on participating in that year’s Strictly series due to finding a lump the day before her honeymoon. However, she is now coming back to the show after her recovery.
In February, the 34-year-old revealed her plans to rejoin the show this year, as follow-up examinations showed no signs of illness after she underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy treatments.
For the debut performance of Strictly’s 20th anniversary season, the dancers will execute a powerful dance number in honor of Amy’s comeback. Additionally, this event will mark the assignment of celebrities to their respective dance partners.
Amy shared her enthusiasm, saying, “I can’t wait to rejoin my Strictly clan on all fronts!”
“I’m incredibly thankful for this chance, particularly since it’s a remarkable year for this iconic show. It seems like I’m starting anew.”
I’m excited to catch up with the entire crew, especially for the costumes and dance choreography, to rub elbows with celebrities and the judges. People are chuckling at me since I seem to be perpetually grinning.
I’d like to dedicate this dance to my dear pink-haired sisters who have stood by me throughout the past year, and to everyone bravely battling cancer at present.
