Strictly star Johannes Radebe’s movie gets exciting update

As a gamer who’s been dancing around digital battlefields for years, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement when real-life heroes like Johannes Radebe are stepping into the limelight. His biopic, “Finally Home,” sounds like an inspiring journey that’ll make even the toughest game bosses weep.

Strictly Come Dancing star Johannes Radebe’s biopic has received an exciting update.

Earlier this year, it became public knowledge that Johannes had been teaming up with filmmakers to transform his book, JoJo: Finally Home, into a feature film.

As stated by Deadlime, the project has made significant progress as Argo Films has joined forces with previously announced partners Arrested Industries and Helena Spring Films to produce it.

Argo Films is managed by seasoned producer Richard Johns, who boasts a resume featuring Disney+’s “The Shepherd” starring John Travolta among other projects. Additionally, he has been involved in the production of “Shadow of the Vampire,” a film that stars Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich.

John shared that he was captivated by Johannes’ story, which brims with life and happiness. He expressed his excitement about collaborating with producers Anthony and Helena to adapt this inspiring memoir into a screenplay. John mentioned that they make a great team, having worked together before, but have made him feel right at home in the project.

The memoir written by Johannes narrates an uplifting tale about his struggle against homophobic prejudice during his youth in the South African township of Zamelda, which he overcame through dance.

Speaking of the project, Radebe shared that while being raised as a gay individual in the townships of South Africa was far from an effortless journey, it offered numerous valuable experiences that have significantly shaped who he is today.

It never crossed my mind that my tale would be brought to life on the silver screen. Yet, I’m deeply grateful for this fresh chance, and I’m eagerly anticipating collaborating closely with Helena and Anthony in the upcoming months.

The making of “Finally Home” (tentative title) will take place in both the United Kingdom and South Africa. Johannes is slated to oversee the film’s dance sequences, and casting news for these roles will be shared at an appropriate time.

In the initial season of “Strictly Come Dancing,” Johannes made history by partnering with John Whaite, forming the show’s first male same-sex dance duo. They ended up placing second in their respective season.

The skilled dancer is set to make a comeback at the ballroom for the fresh season of “Strictly”, and his famous dance partner will be disclosed in this weekend’s grand opening event.

The popular dance show “Strictly Come Dancing” is set to make a comeback on Saturday, September 14th on BBC One. The companion series, “Strictly: It Takes Two,” will air nightly on BBC Two during the week. You can catch both shows streaming on BBC iPlayer.
