Strictly star Balvinder Sopal suffers thigh injury on second day of rehearsals as she admits show is the ‘hardest’ she has ever worked

Balvinder Sopal, a cast member on ‘Strictly Come Dancing,’ shared that she’s already suffered an injury after only two days of rehearsals. She described the show as the most physically demanding experience of her career.

The EastEnders actress who plays Suki Panesar injured her thigh while training and was quickly checked over by the show’s medical staff.

Just days before the new season of Strictly begins, the celebrity revealed on Instagram that she felt a ‘pop’ while rehearsing a dance routine.

She updated her fans on Instagram, explaining that it was her second day of training and she was at physiotherapy because she’d felt something pop and needed it checked out.

Oh my gosh, she *posted*! And she said she’s okay! Can you believe it? She actually said she can still walk and move! I was so worried, but hearing that directly from her… it’s just the best news ever. I’m still going to obsessively check for updates, but for now, I can breathe a little easier knowing she’s still *herself*.

I’m experiencing some tightness and discomfort in my left glute and hip, so I’m going to have it checked out by a professional.

Balvinder complimented the professional dancers, admitting that this has been the most challenging experience of her life. She described the dancers as amazing, almost unbelievably skilled, and truly exceptional.

I’m really enjoying the classes – the instructors are fantastic and their teaching style is excellent.

After getting checked by the physical therapists, Balvinder went back to training and posted a photo of herself practicing.

Everything’s going well! I finished day three of training – my hip and glutes are a little tight, but otherwise feeling good. Thanks so much for all your kind messages and support – we even managed to keep dancing!

This news follows Vicky Pattison, another competitor on the show, sharing photos of her painful injuries from intense training.

She shocked her followers by posting a series of graphic photos on Instagram, revealing the painful injuries she sustained during the BBC competition. The pictures showed her feet badly torn and damaged, offering a raw look at the physical toll of the show.

On her podcast, Get A Grip, Vicky recently shared with co-host Angela Scanlon – who was also a contestant in 2023 – that she was surprised by how quickly she got injured.

She explained that her feet went from completely healthy to severely damaged, like a dancer’s, almost instantly.

‘It can happen in a good 30 seconds if you are having a good rub at the cha cha.’

Last year’s winners, dancer Dianne Buswell and comedian Chris McCausland, will perform their memorable waltz again when the new season begins on Saturday.

The dance performance will happen during the reveal of the new celebrity couples on this season of Strictly Come Dancing, which begins airing on BBC One and iPlayer at 6:40pm.

The show features a partner reveal captured in a series of surprising moments, promising touching reactions and the signature glamour of Strictly Come Dancing.

Chris, 48, and Dianne, 36, took home the BAFTA TV Memorable Moment Award earlier in the year for their waltz, set to the song ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

In 2024, the waltz was a clear favorite with viewers during the Strictly semi-final, proving popular before Chris ultimately won the series.

This week’s show features spectacular group dances by the Strictly professionals, and we’ll also see the new celebrity contestants perform their first dances!
