Sources say Fleur East and Janette Manrara have been removed from their roles on Strictly Come Dancing’s It Takes Two in a major shake-up.

Sources close to the show reveal that BBC2’s weeknight program is facing a significant overhaul following recent controversies.

Janette, a former professional dancer on Strictly, became a host in 2021 after eight years as a performer. Pop singer Fleur joined the show in 2023, following a successful run to the final in 2022.

But now both stars are said to be in the firing line as executives push for a bold new direction.

According to a source, viewers will be shocked that the show is still making drastic cuts, but the people in charge are committed to a total revamp.

Everyone is feeling uneasy, and many people are working to create a positive change following recent events.

The main goal is to start fresh by September and move the show forward, leaving behind the issues it’s faced recently.

A TV insider said the BBC’s recent decisions don’t necessarily mean Janette and Fleur won’t be involved in future projects, and they could potentially appear in different roles on other shows.

Professional dancer Karen Hauer tearfully announced on Saturday that she is leaving Strictly Come Dancing after reports surfaced that she was among those let go in a recent round of cuts.

In a recent video, Karen announced that she’s leaving Strictly Come Dancing after 14 years. She explained that she feels it’s the right time to move on to new opportunities and pursue other things she loves.

Strictly has completely transformed my life, not just in my career as a performer and teacher, but personally as well. I’ve been lucky enough to meet and become friends with so many wonderful and talented people, celebrity partners I truly admire.

I couldn’t have done any of this without the incredible support of my fans. You’ve been with me from the very beginning, when I first arrived in the UK and was completely new to everything. I’m so thankful you’ve been there to see me grow and change over the years – even through all my different hairstyles!

I’ll truly miss everyone who works so hard to put on the show – the hair and makeup artists, wardrobe team, the crew, lighting and staging experts, and even those who run errands. I’m also grateful for the band, singers, producers, and the amazing welfare team who always look after us. It takes a lot of incredibly talented people to make it all happen.

As someone who’s spent a lifetime in the dance world, I have so much love and admiration for all my fellow professional dancers – you are truly the best! I’ll always be your biggest fan. Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the chance I had 14 years ago to join the show alongside the amazing Sir Bruce Forsyth and Len Goodman. Learning from those legends was a career highlight I’ll never forget.

‘And to the brilliant Tess and Claudia, maybe now we can finally be ladies who lunch in the autumn. 

I’ll surprisingly even miss facing the judges! It’s hard to believe I’ll miss putting on a polite face even when I didn’t quite agree with them. It’s truly been a privilege to share the dance floor with them.

Finally, I want to thank my friends and family for everything. I love you all very much. This isn’t a farewell – it’s just a see you later, because I’ll always continue to dance.

It’s amazing to think that a girl from the Bronx would go on to become the longest-working female professional dancer on a show as iconic as Strictly. I’ll always cherish my time on the show and send my love to everyone.

The BBC’s dance competition has seen some big changes recently, with several popular contestants and personalities leaving the show. Fans are calling the departures a major shake-up.

Karen, Gorka Márquez, Nadiya Bychkova, Luba Mushtuk, and Michelle Tsiakkas have left the show, representing a significant change to the cast in recent years.

Michelle unexpectedly left the Strictly Professionals tour just before it was scheduled to begin in April.

Except for Karen, none of the other dancers leaving the show have yet to speak on the news.
