Strictly host Tess Daly believes she can tell who will win each series ‘as early as the launch show’ as star gears up for 20th anniversary series
As an avid Strictly fan with over two decades of watching under my belt, I must say Tess Daly’s insight into the show is nothing short of impressive! Her ability to predict winners as early as the launch show is nothing less than magical. It’s like she’s got a secret crystal ball hidden somewhere in her sequined dress!
Host Tess Daly often senses which contestant might emerge victorious in a given series, even during the very first episode.
55-year-old Tess has been hosting BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing since it started in 2004, with Bruce Forsyth being her initial co-host.
In 2011, Claudia Winkleman became part of the two-person team on the show, while Bruce Forsyth departed following the 2013 season. Regrettably, he passed away in 2017 at the age of 89.
Over the course of two decades, Tess has honed unique abilities while leading one of Britain’s most prominent TV programs – among these talents is an exceptional knack for recognizing potential winners.
She shared with The Sun, “The graduating class of ’24 appears to be an intriguing group. Collectively, I am genuinely eager to discover their plans and what they have prepared for us.
Occasionally, I think I might be able to identify the ultimate contestant right from the first performance because they seem to have all the necessary skills. Yet, quite frequently, I’m just as taken aback as everyone else when the winner is announced.
Tess concluded: ‘It seems that beyond just raw talent, there’s a unique quality required to captivate the audience’s imagination and ultimately win the series. It’s not only about mastering the essential dance abilities to display one’s talent, but also about winning the audience’s affection.’
However, Claudia mentioned that she rarely guesses correctly which pair will triumph, but instead savors the thrill when Tess announces the victorious couple’s name.
Even after 13 years on the show, the host of “The Traitors” admitted that she still feels a flutter of nerves each time she hears the theme tune and prepares to step into the studio.
The show will make a comeback for its 22nd season on September 21st, and it’s set to wrap up by December 14th.
Fifteen well-known personalities are participating in this season’s lineup, among them is Jamie Borthwick, the victor of the 2023 Christmas Special, who has expressed his intentions to juggle his roles between EastEnders and training.
Participating alongside are Toyah Willcox, JB Gill from JLS, Tasha Ghouri from Love Island, Pete Wicks who is a close friend of Zara McDermott, and Wynne Evans known for GoCompare.
Although the identities of the celebrities’ partners won’t be disclosed at the launch, many spectators speculate confidently about one possible pairing.
In spite of the numerous scandals that Strictly encountered last year, they still received an award at the National Television Awards held on Wednesday.
The Strictly team won the Talent Show award, and as Tess and Claudia went up to accept it, their coworkers stared in astonishment.
The source of tension was the revelation that the award was being given by the former Made in Chelsea star, Sam Thompson.
In a nutshell, Sam is Zara McDermott’s boyfriend, and he’s also close friends with Pete. Notably, Pete became part of a high-profile situation in the year under discussion, where it was exposed that his Strictly dance partner, Graziano Di Prima, had treated him unfairly back in 2023.
