Strictly fans go wild as Nick Knowles returns to the show after knee injury jeopardised his dancing future

As a devoted Strictly Come Dancing enthusiast who has been following this show since its inception, I must say that it’s always heartening to witness the resilience and determination of the contestants. Nick’s health update is indeed a concern for us all, but his spirit and positive outlook are truly inspiring. The way he handles adversity with grace and optimism is a testament to his character and life experience.

On Saturday evening, Nick Knowles confessed that he believed his Strictly adventure had ended when he stepped back onto the dance floor.

Despite a setback from an injury he suffered during training last week, it was officially announced on Friday that the DIY SOS star will return to compete in week four.

With partner Luba Mushtuk, Nick danced the Charleston themed around Paddington during Movie Week. Since he missed the previous week’s performance, production let him continue with his week three dance routine.

Dedicating the dance to his 10-year-old son Eddia, judge Motsi Mabuse praised the star for his ‘courageous return’ as she confirmed ‘your son will be proud.’

As I stood before you, beaming with exhilaration, I couldn’t help but share my joy, Claudia. Just a week ago, I believed I was stepping off that dance floor for good. But here I am, ecstatic beyond words!

Luba expressed her profound admiration for this man and his tenacity, adding that it’s simply enchanting to know he’s developed a passion for dance.

On Friday, I received the fantastic news from medical professionals that I could hit the dance floor again on Saturday, marking a week since an injury compelled me to withdraw from Movie Week.

As he grinned next to his companion Luba at the start of the performance, it was clear that he was thrilled to be dancing again.

Fans on Twitter were equally thrilled to witness Nick rejoining his teammates, which was a delightful sight for them.

They penned: ‘OOH NICK IS BACK!’; ‘I LOVE NICK KNOWLES #Strictly’; ‘so glad Nick is able to dance’.

After remaining quiet, Nick shared some exciting news on Instagram – he’ll be returning this coming Saturday night! He confessed that he was disappointed for not showing up the previous week, and now, he’s fully infected with the dance fever again.

He began: ‘Hello everyone. Well I watched last week show feeling so sad that I wasn’t there. Of course I loved cheering on everyone else but I really missed it. I missed being part of it.

I didn’t expect to develop such a passion for dancing when I joined Strictly, but now I can honestly say I’ve been bitten by the dancing bug. So, I’m overjoyed to return tomorrow!

Expressing heartfelt appreciation, he stated: ‘I am deeply thankful to every physio and the entire medical staff at BBC for helping me regain my strength. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow night.’

A representative from the BBC added: “We’re thrilled to announce that Nick Knowles and Luba Mushtuk will be gracing the dance floor this coming Saturday. After being given the green light by our medical and physical therapy teams, Nick is now ready to dance following his injury last week.

Because they’ve had extra time away from practice this week, they’ll dance the Charleston for Movies Week using “Rain on the Roof” from the movie Paddington 2.

During an appearance on It Takes Two on Friday, Fleur East announced that Nick Knowles and Luba would be dancing the Charleston on Saturday, bringing an end to the wait for fans.

On Wednesday, he resumed rehearsals in preparation for a dance performance alongside his professional partner, Luba.

Supporters expressed their excitement on Twitter about Nick returning to the show, as they wrote: “NICK AND LUBA WILL BE DANCING ON THE SHOW TOMORROW!!!”; or more casually, “Fans are thrilled that Nick will be back on the show tomorrow with Luba, and they can’t wait to see them dance!

On Saturdays, Nick Knowles and his partner Luba will show off their dancing skills on Strictly Come Dancing. We’re excited for their rendition of the Paddington Charleston, but let me warn you – it’s quite fast! I just hope Nick’s knee holds up…

A quip was made: ‘Thank goodness Nick Knowles can dance next day, but I have a feeling he might be competing with Paul in the dance-off by Sunday. Join us tomorrow at 6:20 PM.’

After Nick shared significant health news about his participation in Strictly on Wednesday, it followed shortly afterward.

Option A: He posted an update for his followers on Instagram, as well as discussed it during a segment on It Takes Two with Luba.

In an Instagram video, he shared with his followers: “Today, I got some fantastic news! I’ve been observing at It Takes Two, and the physical therapists gave me the green light for training tomorrow!

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share the latest update: The green light for Saturday isn’t confirmed just yet. Tomorrow’s events will shape my journey, and come Friday, we’ll finally have a definitive answer.

Of course, I’ll keep you informed throughout the process. Just wanted to express my gratitude for the warm wishes and support I’ve received so far. Here’s hoping that I’ll be able to dance this coming Saturday!

Later, during a chat with Janette Manrara on the spin-off show of the BBC dance contest, It Takes Two, Nick discussed in depth the events that transpired on Friday.

He explained: ‘We’d had a great week learning the dance and we were doing the camera tech rehearsals where the cameras get to see how the dance works and everything.

In the final moment of the dance, I found myself lagging behind my intended spot and had to jump quickly to reach it. Unfortunately, upon landing, only one of my legs remained stationary while the rest of my body continued its motion.

‘Had a bit of a collapse and realised it wasn’t in a good position. I hurt my knee basically.’

He pointed out a silver lining by saying, “Things seem to improve a bit each day.” To tell the truth, it seemed quite bleak on Friday. Saturday wasn’t great either, but we had a scan and decided to wait until Monday for a closer look at the results.

On Monday, things felt a bit more intense, but today I visited the physiotherapists, and with their assistance plus that of all the other rehabilitation and medical professionals, they’ve granted me permission to attempt dancing tomorrow for training purposes.

‘Training tomorrow could potentially lead to more sessions, but we’ll have to wait and see how it goes. At this point, the outcome remains uncertain.’

It also comes after Strictly Come Dancing: The Official Podcast was axed by the BBC.

The company announced to OK! Magazine that their podcast, which has been discussing every season since 2019, will not come back in 2023.

Hosted by Joe Sugg, who later became partnered with Dianne Buswell during the 2018 season, and producer Kim Winston, this podcast provided exclusive backstage access, detailed conversations, and commentary on the show’s rumors and news.

Regarding the termination, a representative from BBC stated to OK!: “We decided back in early 2024 to discontinue Strictly Come Dancing: The Official Podcast.

We’re extremely delighted with the past six series and want to express our gratitude towards Joe Sugg, Kim Winston, and the entire team that contributed to its success. For those who enjoy Strictly, don’t forget to tune in to our weekly TV podcast, Off The Telly.

According to the representative, Joanna Page and Natalie Cassidy from Off The Telly will be sharing their thoughts about the show, rather than hosting it.

Last weekend on Strictly, singer Toyah Willcox along with her professional partner Neil Jones were the ones who got eliminated, following their performance being deemed less impressive than that of Paul Merson and his partner Karen Hauer during the dance-off.

After the judge’s ruling, Toyah expressed her excitement about ‘amazing’ Neil and proclaimed that her time on the program was “the most fantastic two months I’ve ever lived!

The duos repeated their acts once more; it was Toyah and Neil who danced the Samba to “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid, following a score of only 15 out of 40 that placed them at the bottom of Saturday’s rankings.

While Paul and Karen danced the Cha Cha to “The Magnificent Seven” soundtrack, they started with a total of 19 points.

In the end, following their dance, the judges announced their decisions, and it was Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke who collectively decided to keep Paul and Karen in the competition.
